Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Election 10 and the Right to Vote

October 31st 2010 12:16
Of all the rights guaranteed to American Citizens none is more important than the right to vote.

A right that was fought for by men and women of every race and national origin who were willing to lay their lives on the line to have a say on the actions of their federal, state and local government bodies who serve to represent the will of the people

In the face of crisis, fear and uncertainty Americans from sea to shining sea are searching for answers.

Answers to the questions that stare them in the face every morning on the streets of America and in the form of every newspaper headline, morning talk show, internet post and other forms of media that are giving us a clear picture of the realities that stand before us

In every media cycle there is a story that gives the public a chance to reflect, examine all the issues that come from a single statement and create a balanced discussion rather than automatically erupting in anger.

In the current election cycle, the issue in question had nothing to with getting Americans back to work again, preventing the next great disaster that would lead to the pollution of our oceans and had nothing to do with the current military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan

When this whole thing called “Radical Independence” began to take shape it was simply a movement to help Americans take a closer look at the reasons why major issues affecting their health, welfare and way of life were not being addressed by either of the big two political parties.

Issues that find their way onto the platforms of political debates and party agenda but always lose steam in favor of crusades to protect the American people from the things we are told to fear

In the history of the United States of America no issue has caused more fear, panic, false suspicion, rumor, innuendo and false reasons for supporting archaic ideas than the issue of indoctrinating change into a system that relies on black and white to be effective.

What was once an issue of race and later became an issue of gender is now an issue of all soldiers having the same rights to live their personal lives as they see fit while also serving the country in which they live

Bridging the Gap “State of Fear”

October 20th 2010 09:43
Somewhere beyond the concrete issues critical to getting America back into a state of prosperity is an overwhelming feeling of fear that is driving the conversation into radical places.

Radical places that go somewhere beyond simple conversations about the best approach to fixing a broken education system, eliminating the national debt, ensuring the safety of the food we eat and water we drink, getting Americans back to work again and finding balanced ground on pressing social issues

In the final weeks before the day that decides the way history will judge the success or failure of the 111th session of the United States Congress; the usual suspects of fear and promises of future compromise have taken center stage.

Center stage in what will be the final nail in the coffin for the Democratic Super Majority which will be defined by the dramatic story that will play itself out on Tuesday November 02, 2010

The Society of “No”

October 17th 2010 12:34
For every society created from the fire and brimstone of war there must also come a time when the “freedom fighters” put down their weapons for the sake of long term prosperity.

Prosperity that would allow great minds to come together in the creation of a contract with the citizens of a young nation embroiled in social turmoil and all those who would walk in their footsteps 234 years later

As Americans from sea to shining sea awaken to the true realities of crisis, that have been swept under the rug in favor of rosy election year predictions, we must focus on all the drama that is now forced back into the conversation.

The drama of recognizing the impact of skewed job reports that don’t reflect the tragedy of men and women who exhaust their unemployment benefits and become lost numbers in headlines that claim Americans are back to work again

In the history of American politics there has always been a problem of perception between public movements for change within government and the agendas of the big two political parties.

Confusion in the timeline of cause and effect when citizens decide to exercise their First Amendment rights against actions of a government that stopped listening to the will of the people

On the “Election 10” campaign trail Vice President Joe Biden brought up an age old question that has been the five hundred pound gorilla sitting in the dark corner of conversations surrounding election reform.

A conversation about the role money plays in the modern election process and the price to pay when the rules are liberalized for the benefit of the few rather than the needs of the many

The Forgotten Education Conversation

October 10th 2010 12:01
In the history of the United States of America no issue has been more important and ignored than the support of the American Educational System.

In the midst of a never ending War on Terror, being on the losing end of the War on Drugs and a battle of wills between the big two political parties; institutions of learning from sea to shining sea have been reduced to factories of mediocrity as opposed to the pillars of excellence American citizens have always dreamed them to be

In the year 2010, victory was declared in a political war waged in the name of every American man, woman and child having the benefits of health insurance coverage.

For every war there is a price that has to be paid and as the American public is beginning to understand the price of this war is the details in the fine print

Hidden behind the bravado and radical conversation about gender, sexuality, religion, race and other social issues is a hidden discussion about the fundamentals of the big two political parties.

A conversation that never begins with the principles of states rights vs. the ideals of federalism but always kick starts with a dialogue about the issues that hit closest to home

In the 234 year history of the United States of America, no issue has created more confusion and anger than the delicate balancing act of protecting the freedoms embodied in the Constitution and Bill of Rights while also safeguarding the personal rights of the individual who come into harms way from its abuse.

A quandary that confronted the forefathers when putting pen to paper in the creation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights which would be the framework of a society built on freedom and the opportunities that come with its glory

Nine years after the harsh reality of dangers the rest of the world was already facing came to American shores; citizens of the United States of America must face the facts.

The facts that a political “Campaign for Change” can’t fix and no amount of military force will ever completely eliminate
