“Power comes not from the barrel of a gun, but from one's awareness of his or her own cultural strength and the unlimited capacity to empathize with, feel for, care, and love one's brothers and sisters.”
~ Addison Gayle, Jr.

When scholars look back on our generation what they will get is a mixed bag rich with culture, history, strife, tragedy, compassion and love…
In life it’s easy to focus on everything that is wrong with the world and hide from the loud voices that are trying to drag us to one side or the other; but in the distance there is always the soft voice of men, women and children who are screaming for the helping hand of compassion and love we all have inside of ourselves.
This phase of the movement that began one short year ago is about having the knowledge and awareness to hear those voices that need our compassion in these dark times.
No matter how deep the financial crisis or how bleak things may look on Capitol Hill it is up to us as individuals to take the time to make a difference for the members of the human race that need our help.
For too long the cause of changing the world has been put into the hands of politicians and cult figures where the need for action often gets buried in a sea of paperwork and litigation or becomes a catch phrase that is forgotten long after election season.
What we need is an awakening of the spirit that goes beyond any religion, political party, gender, sexual orientation, socio economic class or nationality that comes from a place deep inside the heart of every human being who has the compassion to find it within themselves to join the fight.
When we truly soak in all of this what we have is a revolution of the mind body and soul that says every man woman and child can stand together for a cause beyond political ideology, gender, religious belief, sexual orientation or creed with the mission of making the world a better place for future generations.
The first shots of this revolution will fired from my hometown of Stafford, VA on August 29th, 2009 at Firkin and Bulldog with the “Save The Ta Ta’s Pub Event.”
The theme of this gathering and the series is “Injecting You With Knowledge and Awareness”
Without these two things there can be no cause to eradicate diseases that are decimating people by the millions nor can there be any pleas to governmental bodies to step in with needed funds for research, education and treatment.
Net proceeds from this event will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust helping to fund important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
Vinyl Epitaph has been gratious enough to donate their musical talents to the cause and we are asking the local community to come out and support event coordinators Team Bras 4 A Cause who are raising funds for an October Walkathon in Philadelphia, PA.
Following this event will be four solid weeks of philanthropy that will continue on September 4th in Fredericksburg, VA at the Applebee’s on Plank road with the Save The Ta Ta’s 80’s Happy Hour where we are encouraging everyone in the community to bring family and friends to enjoy great food and music while fighting side by side for the cause.
On Septemeber 11th the conversation switches gears to a discussion of working to help the homeless during the time of year when they need it most.
The winter months are especially harsh for the homeless and it is important for us to remember this through our generosity.
The "Reggae Benefit Show" was designed with these thoughts heavy on our minds.
The Dub City Renegades will be gracing the stage at Buffalo Wild Wings in Central Park on the night of September 11th in Fredericksburg, VA with the goal of raising funds and gathering supplies for the homeless in the Fredericksburg area.
We will have a $5.00 cover charge on this night which can be substituted with the donation of two canned food items.
All net proceeds and items donated will be given to the Thurman Brisban Center a full service emergency homeless shelter in Fredericksburg, VA.
In celebration of music and her ability to gather people for a great cause we are wrapping up the Awareness Series with two rock shows.
The first show will take place at Mainstreet Grill in Stafford, VA with the Awareness Rock Show featuring a petal to the metal trio of bands.
Appearing on the mainstage will be Three Finger Charlie, Vollmer & Yesterdays Saints who are donating their time and talent for the cause of eradicating the number one killer of women in the world.
Three bands for the price of $5.00 that will be collected at the door for the 21 and over audience with net proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure National Philanthropic Trust.
Closing out the Awareness Series is a regional sensation that is known for playing the main stage for concerts the likes of the DC 101 Chili Cook Off and Shamrock Fest.
On September 18th, 2009 Rude Buddha will be gracing the stage of Buffalo Wild Wings in Fredericksburg, VA as the featured perfomer of the Save the Ta Ta’s Awareness Rock Show II.
An up close an intimate performance for the cause of taking on a disease that has affected so many of us by taking away loved one’s too soon.
The revolution has begun and I am asking you to join me in helping these worthy causes that need your support.
It has been said that charity is a dying art in our society as the obsession for power and money has taken over our better sense of judgment…
I am putting out the challenge to each and every one of you to prove that our spirit of community goes well beyond bonding in times of national crisis and building up anger whenever the system doesn’t work for the people.
On this day I am asking you to meet my challenge in support of our fellow man, woman and child in the effort of finding our compassion for the greater good of humanity.
