Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Bridging the Gap Between Extremes “The First Chapter”

September 29th 2010 12:48
Compared to other systems of government around the globe it’s been said that the Two Party system of the United States Government is superior due to its efficiency.

Efficiency that didn’t come from a law passed to limit the conversation but from an evolution within the system that created a two party majority.

A majority that splits the conversation into color coded opposing forces for the American people to better understand the principles a political candidate on any level of government is for or against before even hearing or reading anything on their agenda.

In this evolution to simplify the conversation; the issues and how we could come to solutions became more defined and the public also became more involved in debates between two opposing sides as opposed to trying to sort out hundreds of voices in an election season.

From the local horse raise to elect Mayors and Supervisors to the grandiose beauty pageant we call a Presidential Campaign the game remains the same.

The game where a simple letter representing the Democrat or Republican Party can evoke an emotional response before we know anything about what a political candidate stands for or how they plan to lead in the office they are seeking.

An emotional response that goes beyond the basic principle of limited federal government versus government that makes decisions from the top down but hits upon our sentimentalities towards social issues that touch on our religious beliefs, race, gender, sexual orientation, geographic area, what we feel are our Constitutional Rights and fear of the unknown.

What I will be doing on my Facebook page each and every Wednesday is breaking down the core differences between the big two and other political parties featuring a different core issue beyond the double speak, rhetoric and dramatic conversation.

For every Tea Party, Rally for Peace, Movement for Change, Gay Rights Demonstration, Contract with America, Animal Rights Movement and Political Protest there is a deeper story beyond the frame work that the media and political parties try to box it into.

These are the conversations we will be discussing each and every week in this special feature that will be posted exclusively at the Khalfani King Facebook Page beginning October 6, 2010.
