Contradictions in the Conversation
June 26th 2011 09:33
Part of the price that comes with living in a society that hold’s the importance of convenience over the basic principles of common sense is dealing with the destruction caused by contradictions used as societal facts.
When it comes to dealing with the greatest concerns that exist in the world; solutions that begin with the greatest intentions consistently move to the forefront of conversation but the final message always gets screwed up somewhere along the way.
Messages about finding cures for diseases that have no cure, making sure that every man, woman and child is able to sleep with a roof over their heads and has food to fill their bellies along with the movement to ensure that every man, woman and child has the same basic rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness no matter their gender, skin color, nationality or sexual orientation across the globe have all been touched by the destructive power of contradictions in the conversation.
Contradictions that have allowed men and women in positions of power to take shortcuts towards finding solutions that ultimately create more problems.
Shortcuts by stifling the fight for equal rights of all human beings to have access to education, an equal playing field in finding a job and thriving in the workplace along with equal rights to marriage and all the benefits that come with it by taking away the rights of others.
Shortcuts by creating an international rallying cry to raise money and awareness for diseases unique to the modern age through multibillion dollar fundraising initiatives without any consideration of alerting the public about the sacrifices it will take on a societal level to eradicate the plagues of the 21st century.
Shortcuts by creating an international conversation about the plague of homelessness and hunger across the globe and reaching the conclusion that the solution is to disrupt financial systems by putting men, women and children in houses they can’t afford.
An idea that worked well for the banking institutions that were able to build a “Customer for Life” until the loans began defaulting on an astronomical scale and the bills the banks needed to pay came due.
Of all the rules we have lived with in the history of mankind none has been more blatantly obvious than the rules of nature.
In a call for the need to feed the world respected men and women with degrees, certificates and education levels far beyond the average world citizen decided it was more important to create food in abundance than it was to consider the consequences it would have on a global scale.
When the intoxicating power of greed from corporations to double and triple profits mixed with the phrase “The Road to Hell is Paved with the Good Intentions” the end result is always the same.
For these good intentions, the 21st century is now a wasteland with pesticides, genetically produced food, destruction of the ocean, a meat industry focused on expediency and a greater abundance through steroids and hormones as opposed to the health concerns of their consumers and a laundry list of chemicals spelled out on the sides of boxes and cartons with a lack of an explanation to the effects they will have on the health of individuals and families.
To begin to understand the crisis of the modern age that has involved a daily sickening of thousands of people from salmonella, e-coli and pesticide poisoning along with an uptick in cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and a litany of other ailments unique to the age of genetically produced food we must begin to call out these contradictions for exactly what they are.
American philosopher Mark Twain once said that there are three kinds of lies…
Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.
With this simple truth we must wake up as a World Society and demand answers directly from our respective political leadership.
If and when these answers come it may be a moment equivalent to the “Birthing” scene in the Science Fiction film “The Matrix”.
A moment when the false moments of comfortability that came from believing that the men and women we have admired were the actually agents behind one of the worst catastrophes the planet has ever witnessed.
The idea that the world can eradicate homelessness, hunger and disease by disrupting international financial markets and raising billions of dollars without asking people to sacrifice their comfortable lifestyles is the same as the fanatical fantasies of dictators, fundamental religious terrorists and governments across the globe that believe the only way to achieve peace is through war.
While many still choose to fall back on the belief that President George W. Bush is still to blame for all the wars past, present and future involving the American military forces across the globe what the truth beyond the contradictions clearly shows us is the existence of a foreign policy initiative that involves President Barack Obama, President George W. Bush, President William Jefferson Clinton, President George H.W. Bush, President Ronald Reagan and President Jimmy Carter along with every other man that held the office of President of the United States of America before.
An initiative that is not unique to the political party or the man or woman entrusted with the duty of being commander and chief nor has it changed in anyway because of promises made on the campaign trail.
Regime Change and all the destruction that comes from this idea was not a fantasy of President Bush and this idea will continue long after President Obama turns over his duties to the next man or woman that serves in the office.
It is and has always been arrogance for any nation or group of nations to believe that they can supplant the political leadership of any nation and to not foresee dangerous consequences that will affect the rest of the planet.
It is a contradiction to say that the actions of the United States of America are any different now because the candidate we voted for and supported is making the decision to destabilize the structure of another nation.
In the grand scheme of things it is not the decisions of our political leaders that will cause the destruction of the world as we know it but it will be the people’s ability to go along with bad ideas and feed into contradictions that will be the one thing that destroys us all.
It is the idea that one man or woman has the courage to stand up to a group whose ideas they support that has separated American society from the dark and dangerous things that have happened in other parts of the globe.
The time has come for members of the Democratic and Republican parties to take a long hard look at the things their political leadership is doing behind closed doors and to ask the question of whether it is really worth all the pain and destruction that comes with maintaining the status quo.
