Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Finding Common Sense Solutions For Our Health & Planet When Caught Between A Partisan Tug Of War

Political extremism involves two prime ingredients: an excessively simple diagnosis of the world's ills, and a conviction that there are identifiable villains back of it all

~John W. Gardner

At least two thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity, idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religious or political idols

~Aldous Huxley

The plan coming into this week’s blog was to tackle the real fundamental issue of America’s food supply and the dangers we face on a day to day basis.

Keeping in tone with the men and women who drive the bus in our modern political system, this plan has been derailed a tad as I feel it’s necessary to lay down commentary on another wild week on Capitol Hill.

A wild week that saw the solidification of a regime based on the premise of hope and change was swiftly followed by the 4-8 year tradition that ensues when the color of the drapes in the White house changes from a blue or red hue to that of the opposite color.

Am I impressed that a President elected by the American people will try and mold the office he is serving into his own image?

To that the answer I have a swift “No” just as I would swiftly and unequivocally give the same answer if asked about my personal feelings on the volley ball executive orders concerning abortion or closing Gitmo.

In a 2 party system where we let figure heads dictate American policy during partisan campaign seasons the decision to make swift and sometimes rash decisions are the American tradition the day after inauguration.

This process doesn’t bother me as I've grown accustomed to expect our nationally elected leaders funded and groomed by their respective party elders to act upon party wishes.

Good or bad this is the world we live in.

The world we also live in is ripe with hate and division with people working for their own self interests on both sides. Media blow hards are working harder now more than ever to bolster their causes against any change from the chaos we’re facing as a nation right now because fear is the ultimate root of their marketability.

Comments of hope in the newly elected leader of the free world “failing” does not elevate the conversation of America becoming a better nation but rather widens the divide in conversation.

When I come on here week after week my ultimate goal is to avoid conversations that include people who have no strategy of getting Americans think on a higher level and profit from ignorant hate and anger.

Prophets like Rush Limbaugh and Anne Coulter are filled with strong thoughts and convictions on Republican Fundamentals that need to be shared with the world but have chosen to go down the path of “Shock and Awe” to sell books and attract the worst aspects of our society.

While their not named in this blog, there are just as many shadowy figures on the left who could never find it within their educated minds to seek out anything good to say about a Republican or to find a common ground to make this country everything it should and could be.

As long as we have the tenants of freedom of speech in the Constitution these figures will always have the right to say whatever they want on the airwaves and the people will always have a right to listen.

This is my point of contention with President Barack Obama…

Finding a common ground to fix the mess we’re in shouldn’t be deduced to a person to simply not listening to a Rush Limbaugh or an Anne Coulter.

Opening your ears to an idea from the other side is a good start but being open minded should not also mean completely closing them to the other side as well.

For every fundamental radical ideology there is a shred of truth that needs to be heard by the other side and used as a point of caution.

We can blame everything from Operation Iraqi Freedom, George Bush’s Fiscal Policy, Operation Enduring Freedom, 9-11, Predatory Lending, American Greed and so on and so on but the real culprit is ourselves…

The divisions don’t begin with the media blow hards, political parties or who said what when but rather when we erect the picket fences, become closed off and simply write off the things we don’t understand.

When we do this we miss out on the bigger problems that affect our daily lives. Problems like addressing the growing issue of homelessness, disease research, safety in the food we eat and inadequate government agencies that aren’t ready to deal with a basic crisis.

I’ve been coming on here for months and expounding on the facts about the danger in our food supply.

The danger that began when the decision was made to sway the waters of our common sense into a mega billion dollar money making adventure.

I’m not going to sit here and hate on the CEO of Tyson Chicken or McDonalds for his lavish style while the animals he profits from never have a life outside of a crate, are injected with steroids and hormones on a daily basis, are beaten unmercifully and fed cannibalistically….

If I did so this would be both un-American and hypocritical.

A man should have the fundamental right to put his hands in the dirt, build and industry and reap the profits of his hard work.

If given free range a business will do whatever it takes to reach maximum profitability.

Over the years this “maximum profitability” has included the torture and subjugation of the animals that supply our food.

In economic times of peril I can understand that animals being treated humanely aren’t on your list of priorities when shopping for the week’s grocery products but the sins of the meat industry has reached well beyond the meat aisle or fast food dinner plate...

At this point and time I would have to say that we have reached critical mass on the issue of food safety and what worries me is that the American public is willing to bury their heads in the sand while millions of people are getting sick and dyeing on a daily basis.

What is the cause you may ask?

The cause is simple meat handling and accountability. The FDA allowed the standards to drop and we are all suffering. When dealing with a food product that has certain parts that aren’t supposed to be cut through one would think that our Federal Government would have strict standards as to who should be responsible for preparing the food our children eat.

The lobbyists and special interests burned the rule book decades ago for the sake of letting big business run wild while we got sick and they told us to just cook the meat longer.

Untrained and undocumented workers are the standard. I say untrained because their goal isn’t to cut and slice the meat as per recommended procedure but to rather slice for expediency to maximize economic corporate goals.

These expedient slices cut through the bladder covering the meat in a glaze of fecal matter that also mixes in with the blood that devours the room and is eventually drained out into the earth.

Meat packing plants aren’t an island unto themselves and sometimes work jointly or side by side with plant farms in the local area that sometimes raise tomatoes, chives or peanuts.

Where does the fecal soaked blood carrying the Salmonella Strain go?

I think the puzzle is solved for most of you and if you're still reading this blog, you have an understanding of the viscous circle our government has allowed to manifest through the decades.

I don’t have the right to preach about personal decisions in eating meat from a commercial meat packing plant that is ripe with hormones, fecal matter, and steroids as opposed to having the agenda of seeking out companies and restaurants that are doing the right thing for our planet.

My only goal is to inform you of the dangers and each and every one of us can make our own personal decisions.

My only goal is to help you soak in and understand the global factors that are affecting Vegans, Vegetarians, Meatatarians and ultimately our children by not pressuring our Government to make the FDA less than a joke...
