Election Day 2011
November 6th 2011 14:14
This Tuesday, Americans from sea to shining sea are going to make important decisions that will affect local communities, all 50 states and the future direction of the United States of America.
With exactly one year before what could be the most important election of our lifetimes the spotlight on the 2012 Presidential election has overshadowed some of the issues that stand before us in the here and now.
Issues on the state and local level that will directly impact how we live our daily lives as American Citizens.
While problems with the economy are easily discussed in terms of joblessness, the simple things that need to be done to reduce spending and getting everyone to pay their fair share; there is also something to be said about the trickledown effect on state and local legislatures that have also felt the pinch from a sluggish economy and a lack of support from an overspent federal government.
A pinch that is creating conflicts in the way legislators choose to maneuver through one of the darkest periods in world history.
While many people in leadership positions have decided to fall into the trap of settling old partisan scores there are other men and women that have chosen to open up their eyes, ears and minds to the raw outlook of the future.
A future that will require representatives of the people to consider the needs of all the people and not only their politcal parties, campaign contributors or the loudest cheerleaders during an election year.
In order for us to survive as a nation through this global economic crisis we must move past the headlines and the spotlight of national elections in an effort to initiate change from the ground up.
Change that is about the people and not the millions of dollars pumped into political campaigns by groups seeking influence in the decisions of elected representatives.
On this Election Day we must look past the slogans, logos and mascots in an effort to ensure that the best men and women get the job.
The job that will be tougher for them than it was for anyone who served in that position before.
There was a point and time in this country where it was enough for a politician to say they were a fighter or that they were running for the people.
During this dark time, the United States of America is in need of men and women that lead through their actions.
Actions, that will instill a sense of pride in the American people for everything we could be if the people choose to grab hold of the opportunity when it presents itself.
The only other option we have is to continue following the path of division and recycling the same leadership with the same results.
Results that have lead us on a dangerous path to ruin on all levels of government.
