From Left Field: Decision 2012 and the Failure of Choice
August 17th 2011 12:39
With a group men and women firmly in place to run for the most powerful position in the free world; the time has come to break down the choices or lack of choices the American people have in front of them based on the current cast characters.
A cast of characters on the left and right that will make the Presidential Election from 2008 look like a friendly Pow Wow between competitors that did everything they could be seen as political candidates working from the middle.
In the 2012 election it’s become abundantly clear that there will be no messages of change, looking towards hope or serious talk from candidates about fixing the systemic problems that blazed the trail for the United States of America and the rest of the world to reach the desperate point we’re faced with in the present.
What the American public can expect in this election season is a lot of charged talk in front of political bases about taking a hard line against the other party, pushing of social issues to the far Right or Left and a large amount of two steps around the issues that are affecting the American people in their daily lives.
The issues that need to addressed concerning the government’s obligation to ensure that corporations are acting responsibly in the interests of their consumers health, reigning in the destructive forces that are putting profit over the climate of panic in conversations about energy needs and a long overdue address concerning the Un-Employment crisis that has a death grip on the United States of America; will all be thrown to the backburner in favor of debates over social issues, the Constitutionality of the recently passed Health Care Law and the role of Religion in Modern Society.
What I find sad in all of this is the missed opportunities the American people are faced with every election season.
Opportunities that come when debates are open to more than two sides of the conversation and the status quo is given an honest challenge from the voices hidden by the never ending background noise.
As a society, we’ve pushed the things that should have simple solutions to the forefront and have chosen not to face the raw truth about the things that affect our daily lives.
Cleanliness of the food we feed our children, safety of the water we drink, our ability to earn a living and every individual American citizen’s opportunity for life liberty and the pursuit of happiness are all at stake this election season but voters will not be able to make the choices that need to be made by punching a single bubble in the voting booth.
While the political parties would like to convince each and every American citizen that a vote for one party over the other is the solution for United States of America getting back on the right path again; history has shown us a different truth.
A history of failed decisions made while the American people chose to look the other way in favor of squabbles between Democratic and Republican forces.
When it comes down to it, the answer to getting the United States of America back on her feet again will not come from Representative Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, Governor Rick Perry or from granting the rights of another term to President Barack Obama.
Every frontrunner in the 2012 Presidential Election has already exhibited flaws that will cause more division in the houses of Congress and among the American people or has the potential to rule over a super majority in their first term of office that would lead to even more despair and ruin across the globe.
More than ever, Americans from sea to shining sea need to begin asking the tough questions of the men and women seeking another term of office and the men and women seeking to serve the people of the United States of America.
No matter how next year’s electoral process turns out; the man or woman that emerges victorious will be elected to represent the interests of ALL the people of the United States of America.
It is the duty of the people to ensure that our representatives live up to their respective oaths of office and not turn our backs on actions that break these oaths in favor of our own selfish interests.
