Defining The Articles Of Radical Independence In the Age Of The Pig

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

In the days, weeks, months and year since I declared my Radical Independence never has there been a moment more pressing than the one we are about to confront on this day.
The moment where a movement bred from the bosom of frustration from the inaction of a government, to act outside of their own selfish interests, transformed into a cause that reaches to the ground floor of crisis.
The crisis we are experiencing is deeper than any fire sale President Obama can come up with to feed the special interests that got him elected or the high pitched wining of a Republican Congress that can’t find a way to be the voice of opposition we need in a government built on balance.
The problem with our government isn’t within the fact that our leaders don’t want action on the major issues affecting every American but is squarely wrapped around the disappearance of the voice of opposition in modern government.
In lieu of this voice are two opposing juggernauts based on models of extremism that don’t represent the true intention of the American people.
In a system based for and by the people through the use of direct elections this is a radical and scary thought.
Things that should be sending chills up and down our spines are calmly swept under the rug as the powers that be use our anger directed at the failures of these very same people to corral us into supporting their causes.
Our fear of politicians appointing activist judges who will infringe on our basic rights as Americans have blinded us from the actions of our national leaders. Actions based on nothing more than greed and power is the true culprit in taking government control out of the hands of the American people.
We’ve lost control of the actions of our government and hopefully it’s not too late to take it back.
One could say that if we had more choices in national elections through third parties, that this could be the remedy to our problems.
In a system based around money a candidate has no choice but to embrace a major party and corporations to fund his dream.
With this acceptance also comes a pledge to conform to the litmus tests of race, gender, religion and “common decency” that have been molded over the decades.
Before a man or woman even appears on the scene for a national election we build this pageant like expectation of how much experience a candidate should have, how beautiful they should be, how they should be raised, who their friends are and defining stories about their moderation.
Depending on which side of the tracks they come from the story is told differently. We use our personal expectations and preferences in political ideology to define facts.
Facts like education at an Ivy League school being a pertinent factor in a candidate or someone being able to speak well while we play a slight of hand saying it doesn’t matter when someone from the other side portrays the same factors we praised our candidate for.
When it comes down to brass tax the society we’ve built to elect our leaders in an effort for efficiency has done nothing but tear down the structure our country was built on.
In the spirit of the Credit Crisis, Swine Flu, The Obesity Epidemic, The Destructive Forces In Our Food Supply & Our Political Structure we have deduced the very things that run our society into McDonalds like institutions and we are no better for it.
Our laziness and constant efforts to leave the roots that built our society have done nothing but bring the chickens home to roost.
The quick swipe mentality lead us down the road to a system where the banks have better access to our government officials than the tax paying voter ultimately giving them the power to rule our daily lives.
When their greed became failure it seeped into our national infrastructure and our government still has the audacity to feed them tax payer money to pay off old scores.
An epidemic of biblical proportions all because of the advance of mankind to build a catch all farming industry where animals who would have never existed in the same eco system can now breed and mutate new viruses through daily contact.
A government who is aware of an epidemic with Salmonella poisoning and the horrors that take place on the killing fields of the farms that supply our food is doing everything they can to make this country even more industrialized through the passage of new bills with the aim of wiping out the small farmer who’s doing the right thing.
An encouragement from our government through reactionary measures on the Fast Food industry by doing everything they can to pass ineffective laws that do nothing to get to the root of the problem in our health epidemic.
The obesity epidemic exists in areas where fast food is an affordable and accessible option as opposed to grocery stores that inflated their bottom lines in a gas scare over a year ago and never brought the price down.
A political structure that has the ability to wrap up issues like failing schools, fixing the deficit, finding cures for incurable diseases, equal rights for all Americans, school prayer, keeping America safe from enemies foreign & domestic, abortion and gun control into simple arguments of blue or red.
Allowing our politicians to deduce the arguments into simple colors does nothing but shut us up and diverts us away from finding sensible solutions.
It doesn’t bring me any solace to see a Justice of the Supreme Court retire because I always know this is the beginning of a firestorm of God & Guns politics.
When a confirming committee can ask every question of a Supreme Court nominee except for the only one that ultimately matters it makes me question the point of nominees being confirmed in a modern age.
The only question that should be asked is whether a judge intends to honor the true intent of the Constitution and doesn’t have an activist agenda.
I understand that word “activist” has been thrown around on both sides and has probably lost its meaning. Any activism from a member of the highest court in the land is flat out wrong and should be judged with the same force no matter which side he or she is working for.
If there’s one point of comfort I’ve found from the apolitical nature of the Supreme Court nomination process it’s within the fact that a judge is free to be his own man or woman once placed into duty.
This is the kind of variance we need from our political leaders on Capitol Hill and the Oval Office.
If anything this will produce an atmosphere where candidates who inspire can make good on the promises given in election pitches.
With all of America’s hope and promise of everything we are and can be we still live in a toxic environment.
Environments where we feel the only way to get our points across are by having conversations in the extremisms and scrapping with anyone who disagrees with our points of views.
This is the country I love and I know we’re better than this.
The only way we can prove this is by having open conversations and reaching out to our fellow man from the ground floor by giving a hand to those who need our help.
President Barack Obama can talk about missions to space to patch up the Ozone layer or finding a cure for AIDS, Cancer and child hood hunger but when the haze clears from the field it’s up to each and every American to rediscover our individual humanity in a time of crisis.
When “we the people” rediscover our true voice it won’t be from the mouth of a politician from the Republican or Democratic Party but it will be just that…
A voice from, for and by the people….
Until than we’re doing nothing but playing see-saw games and treading water in the ultimate game of survivor.
