The Land of Confusion: A Look at the Consequences of Remaining Blind to Problems Beyond the Fog
August 23rd 2009 13:02
Caught between the pillars of belief that tell us the darkest days have passed us by and the gentle whispers of caution that warn us of more to come; we have truly reached the destination that brings us to the land of confusion…
The land that allows us to believe in heroes who tell the American people everything is going to be ok if we follow the rules and keep a watchful eye on the games of the other side.
The land where we still erect invisible walls that segregate us by way of nationality, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and social culture in an attempt to energize ourselves into making a difference.
It is in this place where we choose to ignore the mistakes of the past with the determination that history never repeats itself and the problems that exist today are always the fault of someone else instead of spreading the blame to our own back doors.
Mistakes that were made out of a sense of convenience instead of reflecting on all the things this great nation was built on and the duties that came with the gifts endowed to us by the planet that sustains life.
Gifts of intelligence that separate us from animals have been twisted into a cruel drama that says we must build groups where you’re either with us or against us to solve some of life’s greatest mysteries.
Gifts of intelligence that allow us to rationalize the systematic breeding, scientific mutation and ignorance to the laws of nature in the name of capitalism and the all mighty dollar.
The worst atrocities that have taken place on this Earth were perpetrated by men and women who decided humanity could be put on the backburner for power and greed.
This was the thinking when the decisions were made to not consider the environmental impact of industrialization when we were clearly warned about the devastation that was being caused.
This was the thinking when the idea came to fruition that work could be maximized by enslaving your enemies and selling them off to people for a profit at the cost of one’s humanity.
This was the thinking when laws were made that said a woman’s place was in the home and she did not have the right to vote, own property or fight to protect her family and country.
This was the thinking when social codes were made law in some parts of the country while observed as common knowledge in others that said the pigments of a person’s skin made them an inferior part of society.
This is the thinking in an industrialized world when we allow multi billion dollar corporations to operate fields of terror where animals that provide food for our children are tortured, abused, provided with degrading living environments and prepared without regard to their fellow man, woman and child in the name of convenience and the ability to get a fifty cent cheeseburger.
Our need for convenience and quick answers has come back to haunt us in this land of confusion and the people who see the signs are left without a voice.
The only voices to be heard are the voices of extremism who would rather cultivate our anger into support of their causes.
Causes that rile our passions into a frenzy of fear in the belief that the rights our forefathers set forth to protect in the Constitution sit at the mercy of whomever happens to sign the bills that reach the Oval Office.
For these causes to hit home power plays of race, gender, sexual orientation, regionalism and religion are made to lead us into the belief that anyone different from our social set of comfortability should not be trusted and should have no voice.
A fear that has been common throughout the ages as we try to understand a big world and rationalize things we don’t understand.
It’s easy to separate ourselves from things that are different and live in social boxes of gender, race and religion.
Boxes of comfortablilty that will lash out at anyone who breaks the social norms we have within ourselves in an effort to protect the common opinion or social dogma that says a person is acting a different color or like someone of the opposite gender if they break norms.
Social norms that extend into a political structure that has been molded into a contentious frenzy where the existence of third and independent parties have been replaced by a blue and red feeding frenzy…
A feeding frenzy of God, Guns, Abortion and Fear that puts American against American as we judge each others actions from separated bird’s nests where we can build our own fantasy notions of the world that fits the Republican or Democratic national agenda.
An agenda built to offer an exchange of ideas to represent the various view points of the American people has been twisted into a struggle of dominance intended to break the balance of power which was carefully crafted to prevent rebellion, civil unrest and chaos.
These are the things that exist in our current time of crisis…
A time of crisis that has left every American citizen scrambling for answers and grasping onto any bit of hope and change to rescue us from the mess we’re not willing to come face to face with.
The face of hope and change may be blue in today’s environment but can easily morph into the deepest shade of red if left to the devices of greed, partisanship and strife.
The classic see-saw battle as we put our hearts and minds behind one side only to transform our passions of hope into fits of anger when water is not immediately turned into wine.
When the situation is truly broken down on a higher level what we will find past the smoke, mirrors, pointed fingers, pats on the back, and accusations of idiocracy is a flat board with the thousands of political players who have profited from our division and should share the blame for wrecking the system.
The funny thing about Election “08” is within the memory every politician seeking our support having the willingness to stand up and speak about everything wrong with the system in an attempt to soothe the beast.
The beast of American anger was given a pacifier of hope to lead us on a path of belief that a band aid would fix the things we’re unwilling to face.
If we look back on the laws of physics and try to gain an understanding of sheer common sense a vision of this gnawed and broken pacifier will come to mind…
A clear vision that tells us that waiting for prophecies in the form of politicians coming to Washington to fix her problems is over.
The chance to change problems into opportunities can only happen when we walk to the table of discussion with our eyes open.
With our eyes open to each others unique stories and the beauty of this country with all of her wonder.
With our eyes open to the things that bring us together instead of the intricacies that make us different and divide us.
With our eyes open to what “change” truly means and the ability this word has for endless possibilities and the chance for us to always get it right no matter how grave the situation may be.
The land that allows us to believe in heroes who tell the American people everything is going to be ok if we follow the rules and keep a watchful eye on the games of the other side.

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
Thanks to the ever diminishing control on media by big corproate concerns, we get an ever increasingly insular and corporate self-serving view of the world.
This not just applies to America, but to Australia and Britiain, to name but a few.
When secret coups like 911 can be orchestrated, by the power elite, (not the box cutters, who were just the fallgoys, or current time "Oswalds"), without the media to investigate and challenge, to inform the public of the truth, or both sides of an argument, we will continue to live under the veils of propaganda.
I say, while the big econmic power houses (and the smaller ones) keep making most of their money out of arms sales, we will always live in perilous times.

Oldies but Goodies From Campaign 08
Most of the problems that exist in the world derive from fact that each and every country with inherent power from an electoral process has mistaken the words of great men who fought and died for us to have these rights for simple philosophy...
Ideals like the people having power to change things at the ballot box or pressuring their elected representatives to act for the people instead of for special, party or their own selfish interests has been warped into an idea that change can only come from one party or from a certain agenda.
We have lost our sense of what government for and by the people truly means on a global scale because the people took their eyes off the ball and entrusted these inalienable rights into the hands of fear mongers that tell us things will be taken away from us if we don't follow their dogma.
Things like the national prosperity, religions we hold dear to our hearts, aspects of a moral society, our ability to protect our homes and way of life.
For every time we dig up legal documents that tell us these things are sacred and protected there is a political zealot who will stir our passions in an effort to blind ourselves and run in fear from shielding ourselves from the things we should be truly fearful of...
Giving up and losing control of our government and its actions which has already happened.
