Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Farmers Fighting Cancer Awareness Rock Show Series Official Announcement

October 16th 2009 13:22
In an industrial world it’s easy to forget about the little things. Little things like the dirty hands and tireless work of local farmers who put blood, sweat and tears into the proscess of providing food for their local communities.

Once considered the backbone of a growing nation the plight of this integral part of our society has been shoved to the backburner in conversation.

The plight that has forced the closing of farms across the nation in a trade off for the price of technology and processed foods…

In communities across the nation the tradition of farming is still an integral part of life, which is why we must pay special attention to the cause of Farmers Fighting Cancer.

The cause honoring the grit and strength that embodies the farmers spirit while also taking time to examine the entire situation.

The situation that arises when illness adds an extra dimension of difficulty to a life of service that already has to deal with an array of external factors.

External factors that demand payment of bills, cultivation of crops and attention to the needs of livestock regardless of personal health concerns.

For farmers there is no form of insurance that will take care of all the bills while also doing what needs to be done in and around the farm while fighting for survival.

Survival from a disease that has killed millions across the globe…

The philanthropic organization Farmers Fighting Cancer began with a call to action to help a farmer named Tommy Dean who found himself in the grips of this situation and is now an organization working to help farmers across the nation.

Work that will lend a helping hand to men and women who have invested a lifetime in their craft only to find it all slipping away when medical bills join the already large pile of life concerns.

Life concerns that begin with the rigors of maintaining decades of tradition in providing quality and nutritious products for families to put on their dinner plates.

No matter how large or technological our society becomes we must never forget our roots.

Roots that began with an agricultural society and still continues today from sea to shining sea through the tireless work of the local farmer.

It is with this spirit that I am proud to lend my helping hands to this cause in a two night mega event.

Two nights of celebration surrounding the holiday where each and every American gives thanks for all the things in their lives.

On the evenings of November 20th and 27th we will be bring this spirit with us to Buffalo Wild Wings Fredericksburg to help raise money for Farmers Fighting Cancer in the second phase of the Awareness Rock Show Series.

A continuation from the earlier series of events that helped raise money for Breast Cancer Research and the Thurman Brisben Center homeless shelter is now working to help farmers in the fight against cancer.

The Farmers Fighting Cancer Awareness Rock Show III will feature three original performing artists as we welcome back Warped Tour 2009 Artists With Haste and introduce The Dead End Drop Outs and Elisium to the Awareness Rock Show Series.

A night that will not be forgotten for years to come will continue a week later in a Black Friday Show with the Farmers Fighting Cancer Awareness Rock Show IV as we introduce a new band to the Fredericksburg area. Train Wreck is a rock group created by members of Single Barrel.

Single Barrel is a mainstay in the Fredericksburg region through their mega performances at Buffalo Wild Wings Fredericksburg that have become legend through the years.

Both nights are 18 and up events with a $5.00 cover charge. 10% of sales from the evening will be donated directly to Farmers Fighting Cancer courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings Fredericksburg. Through this we have created a situation that could raise a significant amount of money for this cause but it is up to each and every one of us to do our part to help.

Help through donations and support that could help a farmer find relief in the fight…
