Separating Fluff and Bull from Facts and Fiction “Election 10 Countdown”
October 19th 2010 13:37
In the final weeks before the day that decides the way history will judge the success or failure of the 111th session of the United States Congress; the usual suspects of fear and promises of future compromise have taken center stage.
Center stage in what will be the final nail in the coffin for the Democratic Super Majority which will be defined by the dramatic story that will play itself out on Tuesday November 02, 2010.
For some, the story has already been written before the voters have had a chance to have their say.
The story of expected gains and losses for the big two political parties and the conversations that will come from this upheaval.
A upheaval that some will equate to the fears that come with every nationally scrutinized election which will always benefit the agenda of one side while the other can point to closed eyes, ears and minds as to the reason why their actions were misinterpreted by a “blinded public”.
When we balance out political strategies designed to make defeat look admirable and the over bloated expectations of the landscape being a shinier place with the “other guys” in charge we are still left with the familiar empty feeling that comes in the months after every election cycle.
The feeling that reminds us of how the story may have a different beginning but always ends the same no matter the crisis, issue to rally in the streets against or agenda the American people were promised from the bottom of a bottle filled with snake oil.
No matter how the story of victory or defeat is labeled...
In two weeks there will be no winners on the morning of November 3, 2010.
Only a conversation about what we have to lose if these new pillars of leadership forget promises of transparency and working for the interests of their constituents to fix the wrongs they promised to fight against on the campaign trail.
The wrongs that have been clearly defined in the media and by every political figure fighting to keep their job or earn their way to the oath of office.
If things were perfect and the actions of government left us nothing to fear there would be no need for political discussion.
True fear should be focused on the things that happen when we lose the ability to have these discussions by closing our eyes, ears and minds to the voices from all sides of every issue and ultimately give up our fundamental right to keep an eye on the decisions that affect the future direction of the United States of America and the World that surrounds us.
