Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Power Through Exclusion

October 2nd 2011 12:55
In the midst of the worst economic crisis in the history of human civilization, an epidemic of joblessness, a crisis of homelessness at an all time high, a widening division among the people of the world and a growing anxiety among the world populous; it could be said that it’s time to start doing things differently than they have ever been done before.

Differently, in the way the people allow decisions to be made by the men and women elected to lead.

Of all the problems that exist in the world nothing is more frightening than the idea of exclusion in the way we select our political leadership.

Exclusion that has very little to do with a particular race, gender, ethnicity, religious group or social cause seeking to cement a place in the power structure of the United States of America but has everything to do with the general principles of practicality, fairness and common sense that have been corrupted in the process to select decision makers on all levels of government.

A process that has very little do with selecting the best men and women to lead the most powerful nation in the free world and has everything to do with limiting the choices of the American people the Tuesday after the first Monday every November.

While the term exclusion may conjure up images of a dark past in the United States of America that included acts of voter intimidation, backroom deals to keep names off of ballots and brutalities to cause a chilling effect on would be voters; flaws in the modern election system are causing more damage than anything that has been done in the past.

Damage that is being done in silence because the blame for the things happening in the here and now have been passed onto the “Boogey Men” that wear blue and red capes…

Names like Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Obama that can be used as a narrative for the current debt crisis, economic downturn, environmental destruction, presence of American military forces around the globe and wars that are going nowhere.

What’s lost in these brief conversations is the fact that the American people never had a choice to avoid the damage that has been done to the infrastructure of the United States of America because both sides of the ballot have always been playing the same game.

The game that has become more about “Money Bombs”, playing to political bases, lobbyists, corporate donors, taking care of special interests and making promises that were never meant to be kept as opposed to clearly explaining an agenda to the American people and acting on it through a term of public service.

The government of the United States of America is not working for the best interests of the people.

Instead, they are working for the best interests of their political party, corporate donors, special interests, political action committees and the pursuit of being elected to new terms of service.

While the idea of a man or woman coming from nothing and earning as much money as they are able to earn is as American as Apple Pie there is also something to be said about a government that has forgotten the most basic principles it was founded on.

Principles of adhering to the original rules of the game that include having a fair and open election system where every man or woman has an equal chance to appeal to the voting electorate and have their issues heard by the American People.

Instead, we have two social clubs that have been allowed to create a system that selects the most powerful man or woman in the free world through a two team playoff that has resulted in the chaos being felt around the globe.

Chaos, caused by radical agendas pushed from both sides of the aisle.

Exclusivity creates the passage of bad ideas.

For proof of this we can look back on the historical record with the rise and fall of every dictator or the havoc wreaked on the United States of America with every Super Majority in the Legislative and Executive Branches of the United States Government.

The results of this goal from the big two political parties has never been about morality, great social change, getting America back on her feet again or helping the less fortunate but has always had an agenda of putting money back into the political parties and repaying favors made by large political donors.

Favors that came from corporations that enjoy paying little to no taxes, are allowed to create their own regulations for their industry and are given better access to government representatives than the average American citizen.

When it’s all said and done, the problems that come the day after Election Day have everything to do with the perversion of an imperfect system by money.

A problem that can be easily sourced to the political parties also has everything to do with the way media powers that be tell the story.

The story of two political parties mired in failure being portrayed as the only options through media coverage in debates that cherry pick the men and women hand selected as future leaders long before Election Day.

Much like “Insect Politics” radicals with the loudest voice and little tolerance for what’s best for the country have final say in selecting representatives of the political parties that absorb all the election coverage and eventually lead the United States of America.

They have this power because they choose their leaders from within and exclude everyone who does not follow their beliefs.

The men and women that are able to make it through the process with sensible solutions based on the principles of their political party are silenced by the screams of the few while the majority of sensible voters are eventually left with the “Chosen Ones” to sort through.

“Chosen Ones” that have only proven to be cut from the same mold as the ones that came before.

The mold of continuing a broken system with the same philosophies that drove the bus off the cliff…

To understand the reasons why things are the way they are we must first admit to ourselves that the difficulties we’re facing are about more than the President of the United States of America, Congress, Supreme Court, a Political Party, a Public Figure or Retired Politician.

Any problem in the United States of America always comes back to the people.

No matter how much the media powers that be would like to spin us into the belief of an outside force being the cause; it’s the people that have the power to do something about it.

When we choose to truly understand this without the haze of blue or red over our eyes we can begin to take this country back before it's too late.
