Separating Fluff and Bull from Facts and Fiction “Words to Action”
November 4th 2010 12:00
After the rallies come to a close, speeches hit their mark and the American people have had their say in the voting booth; there comes a point and time where words must transform into action.
Actions that live up the expectations of the American people that bought into the ideals that were put on the table by candidates who must now be public servants to the constituents in their districts, states or country.
In 2008 the call to action was simple.
Change was the theme and this call to action was answered in the transition from the Bush era to what was supposed to be a new age of American politics.
An age of enlightenment where decisions would be transparent and open to a free exchange of ideas between the political parties and the American people.
From this failure to meet the expectations of the American people a new era in the United States House of Representatives has been born with the promise of repealing the Health Care overhaul, lowering taxes, cutting government spending and taking on the issue of eliminating the national deficit.
With the exception of the Health Care overhaul, passed by a Democratic super majority in the legislative and executive branches of government, the American people are still waiting for specifics.
Specifics to match the promises that came from the original premise of the Tea Party movement in giving the power of government back to the people.
What was once as simple as standing against a majority that was willing to pass legislation along party lines, only because they could, has now become a matter of taking on the responsibility of being the decision makers and working with the other side who shares the same amount of power and responsibility.
No longer, will it be a matter of letting political opposition take blame for all the problems that aren’t being taken care of because of partisanship and bickering but all legislators will now carry the weight of equal responsibility for the gridlock and the impact of failed legislation.
Contrary to Representative Bachman’s effort to make a partisan issue out of White House spending that can neither be proven nor disproven due to the nature of security surrounding burden of proof; there are plenty of other areas in the Federal government that can be trimmed.
Areas within Republican and Democratic spending programs that she may not want to discuss on national television to try and add fire to the inferno that carried her party to a position of leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In order for America to get back on track again we must tackle all the issues discussed on the Republican agenda but these things must be done without any political party allegiance, bravado or scoring points for the 2012 Presidential election.
Ideas are great in the way it gives the American people something to look forward to when a change in political leadership occurs but these ideas are just ideas if they are implemented for all the wrong reasons.
The focus of this next session of Congress should be in living up to their word by acting for the interests of the American people and not in continuing the cycle that has lead us to nowhere.
Today’s discussion is a response to an interview that aired on the CNN Show Anderson Cooper 360 which can be viewed by clicking the link below.
