The Revolutionary Family Feud of Modern Politics

Family quarrels are bitter things. They don't go by any rules. They're not like aches or wounds; they're more like splits in the skin that won't heal because there's not enough material.

When we dig deeper into the nooks and crannies of revolution trying to truly understand all the nuances of how victory was ultimately attained or lost we must first understand the elements of family that held the bonds together.
The elements of family beyond the glorious battles and spirit of brotherly love as groups of men and women fought side by side but rather the internal structures behind each individuals understanding of what the end game meant to the soul of each individual who fought for the cause.
It’s easy to regurgitate history and miss the nuances within the revolution as factions took their individual sides of belief as to what should be contained in the document that would form one of the greatest nation states the world has ever seen.
It’s also just as easy to chalk up the Civil rights movement onto the shoulders of one man and miss the messages of other men and women who dissented from the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and chose to fight for equal rights through other means of protest in their own movements.
Behind every revolution or political faction are always a million background stories that shaped the cause.
Our simple society tends to forget this in our fairy tale narration of these stories and this misunderstanding of major movements in American history has filtered down into conversation of how we look at modern history in today’s society.
The movers and shakers of our current political structure are squarely within the two camps of the Republican and Democratic Parties.
We can choose to look at these parties as individual Juggernauts in a head to head battle or we can dig deeper and try to understand the family feud that exists within the party structure.
For the Democratic Party this family feud reared its head during the early stages of campaign “08” as a revolution swept the party.
Revolution is never embraced with open arms but in the face of victory all scars can be covered up with the lust of power.
In the case of the Republican Party the wounds are open and apparent for the entire world to see.
Like vultures on the carcass of a fallen Wildebeest, the media is picking at the carcass of a once great party by evoking the images of Southern Democrats who crossed party lines on a witch hunt to transform the message of State’s Rights into a cause for racial purity.
This reminder of the older side of the party is used by media zealots as a cause for the Republican Party to abandon the call for small government and drop their belief in the values of small town America as opposed to the industrialized nation we’ve grown into.
The make over of the Grand Ole Party will never come from a media bent on her destruction but should come from a place deep inside each and every card carrying member of the Republican Party when they truly think about where this country is headed.
The message of conservative government is as clear as it was in 1776 when the very same principals were thrown in the face of the forces that wanted a completely federalized government.
What’s become clouded is the inception of divisive politics that served as a successful tool in the attainment of Republican dominance over the past three decades.
Without a solution for an Independent to have a realistic chance of changing the tone in Washington the American people have no other choice but to reach out to the parties with a simple request to get it together.
Getting it together has to begin with a resurgence of the party that has found itself on the canvass trying to answer the 10 count before the final bell rings.
The American people need you to answer the count by listening to the moderate wings of your party in the forming of a new identity.
A new identity doesn’t mean going back to the roots of “Old School Politics” in the name of Strom Thurmond or Jesse Helms, nor does it mean giving warriors of God, Guns & Abortion keys to the bus but what it does mean is doing a better job of appealing to what the average American is asking for.
The American people are asking for you to stop focusing on witch hunts and to think of bi-partisanship first.
The American people are asking for you to approach debates and conversation with open minds willing to blend the best ideas from both sides of the aisle while staying true to the values that brought you to the dance without giving in to the irrational voice of popular opinion of what a Republican “should be.”
I’m sure that each and every one of us understands that no family thinks with a singular mind.
The same rules of family created by blood also apply to extended families born from the fire of ideas or reaching a distant goal.
In the grand scheme of things, what is important for the average American is the end game in maintaining the balance of power in our federal government.
As much as we hate to admit the facts of embracing the other side; we must accept that like the ying & yang, one can not exist without the other and the attainment of absolute power by one side will only result in bad things for our country and the world.
