Understanding the Irrational Double Speak of an Angry Nation

“Have you ever watched a crab on the shore crawling backward in search of the Atlantic Ocean, and missing? That's the way the mind of man operates.”

In a news cycle filled with sights and sounds of “big changes” coming to a political structure in desperate need of TLC I am left with no other reaction but to scratch my head in wonderment.
When the BS from the mouths of men and women elected to serve the people of their city, county, state or country mounts to record levels in an effort to cloud the issues in front of us I also have no choice but to revert back to the originial conversation that started this movement.
The original conversation that dug past the spin and double-speak to truely figure out how our government was able to get it so wrong and how to move forward.
The fruits of extremism have given us record deficits, record unemployment, destruction of our financial infrastructure, a recession and an endless line of pointed fingers that stretch to both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill and the Oval Office.
Wolves in sheep’s clothing are coming out of the woodworks because someone turned the lights on during Election “08” and the roaches are scattering in the search for a new agenda to secure and maintain power.
The part of this politcal theory that bothers me isn’t within the new trend for every politican to appear as if their running campaigns from the middle but simply lies within the hidden intent to corrupt another great idea.
We’ve scene it over the decades and have heard it in speeches that have touched the very soul of everything we envision this country to be.
We give our hearts and souls to these figures that appear bigger than life in the hope of saving us from a desperate situation only to watch it all fall flat once these men and women step into the lion’s den of partisanship.
The new “hero” of the middle is Sarah Palin who chose to break an agreement with the Alaskan people to try and make a difference on a national stage.
The said goal of this crusader is to bring together both sides of the aisle on issues that affect the daily lives of Americans at some point beyond partisanship and pushing social agendas.
These are the things I’m hearing from a women who played her part in making Election “08” one of the most partisan presidential contests in the history of our electoral proscess and is also well known as a divisive figure along party lines in the conversation.
While the media played their role in defining Sarah Palin, this Governor of Alaska still has miles to walk before convincing the American people she is anything more than another symbol of the reason why politcs are not working on Capitol Hill.
The anger is mounting and with this anger the simplistic thought of the voting electorate will mount their frustration on whomever falls squarely into the red glow of the bulls stare.
Without rationality or understanding for the outside aspects beyond a presidents control decisions of judgement will be based on results and our leaders are judged on this and this alone.
When this happens logic would tell us that a man or woman would step up to fill the void and offer the American people a choice outside of the factors that are causing division, strife and bad ideas in the legislative proscess.
Logic and reality are rarely bed fellows in politics and what we will get are a pair of weak choices that are supposed to define us as individuals in our politcal belief as Americans.
Statements like this have and will always bother me from a place deep inside of my soul with a sense of dread for everything that Election "2012" will bring.
No matter whom a person votes for we are all individuals and will never agree with everything a politician stands for.
Asking the question about whom a person voted and passing judgement for doing so as a racist, idealist, communist, socialist, greedy, naive, closed minded, war monger or the other myriad of ridicoulous judgements only adds an explosive agent to the volatile climate in our electorate.
The reason why our politicians can get away with radical ideas that don’t benefit the American people is because we play these games with each other and take our eyes off the ball.
We are so busy standing in judgement against our fellow man; we allow our prosperity to be given away to communist nations, we allow our leaders to march into invisible wars without asking questions and play the blue/red enie meenie minie moe game at the election booth without out asking the question of what happened to all the third party canidates who used to give ideas, choice and warnings to a nation caught between a partisan tug of war.
We’ve reached the point where the nartional politcal conversation has been watered down to a circus atmosphere that has "change" as a politcal agenda squarely placed on campaign buttons.
Change used to mean something special as a rallying cry for government to serve the people instead of special or their own self interests but will now be burned in ephiagy as a rallying cry for the other side to restore the power back to the right.
We’re in for a long ride as the most basic rules of common decency are being excused as we allow our imperfect messengers to become celebrities that are above the jobs they were hired for.
This is the point where I could say we’re thinking backwards but in this new age of Reality TV our country and world is in uncharted territory.
New thoughts and ideas of vision in our government has never been a bad thing but all aspects of politics are judged by results.
Until the Americans who lost their jobs in a recession caused by government malfeasance find work to get our country moving again we can enjoy broken glass ceilings, the antics of beauty queens and great speeches all we want but the pain will continue causing the irrational anger to build which will ultimately destroy us as a nation.
