Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Remembering the Basics to Understand what’s at Stake

September 12th 2010 14:02
In the shadow of the day Americans from Sea to Shining Sea remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and those who gave all in protection of our homeland we are left with a moment to examine the basics.

The basics in our ability to come together in memory of the things that unite us as a country and the forces of division that are making these moments a rarity.

The day that every American was able to drop their political and social banners to unite behind their country in support of the fire fighters, police officers, military personnel, innocent civilians and the memory of lives lost on 9/11 is the day we showed the world that we had the ability to stand as one nation.

When history looks back on the day the united spirit of our nation in the weeks and months after the 9/11 tragedy even the harshest cynic has to marvel at the spirit of togetherness in the face of tragedy.

For every landmark set, there was a dark cloud hovering over conversations of cause and effect and the best way to move forward as a nation in protecting citizens while also maintaining our standing as a benevolent nation.

For everything that the tragedy of 9/11 did to unite the United States of America it also did just as much damage to cloud the eyes of a nation from the basics.

Basics in understanding the twisting and turning of the word terror and an opening of Pandora’s Box for a government to run amok in the creation of short sighted war’s and leaving the driver’s seat of the bus empty to the things happening on the homeland.

Nine years after the worst attack on American soil we are a stronger but more divided nation.

Stronger in the security measures that were enacted to protect the United States of America from future attack but more divided as the murmurs and finger pointing to the actions of administrations from yesteryear continues to muddy up the conversation of now.

The conversation about actions and reactions when looking at the basics that continue to be ignored in favor of the easy discussion in black and white terms.

Black and white terms where we can say this without considering that because that was wrong last time or the time before and so on and so on…

No matter how much we advance as a society the American Dream will always remain the same.

The American Dream to be able to live our lives chasing after the brass ring of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

While this dream may have been visualized as the middle class living suburban family with the white picket fence; the reality of the dream has and will always rely upon our fundamental rights to Freedom of Religious or non Religious Belief, Freedom to speak out against Government, Freedom to Peacefully Assemble in Protest and Equal Opportunity Rights to Employment and Education.

No matter the public czar who speaks out about “Returning America to God” or the Constitutional guru who points out the fact that these freedoms only protect American citizens from government intervention; these basic rights are the framework for our society.

How we respect them in our dealings with each other will lay the ground work for when the tables are turned and it is our right to speak, assemble or practice our religion that is being infringed upon.

What we learned from 9/11 was that the stories of the United States of America uniting behind the cause of defending our nation during WWII are still relevant in modern conversation.

What we also learned was that it is our actions in the aftermath of tragedy that will lay the ground work for future generations.

Future generations who must now clean up the damage that was done when the problems at home were not taken care of when decisions were made to focus on winning Invisible wars.

Moving forward will not be an easy task but it is up to each and every American to open our eyes to the things that are important in protecting our homeland from the dangers of our own creation rather than waging war’s against ourselves.

As George A. Romero wrote in the screenplay for the Cinematic Classic “Night of the Living Dead” released in 1968:

“We may not enjoy living together but dying together isn’t going to solve anything.”

DOCUMENTARY to correct problem of Islamic Phobia in America

Proposed “documentary” to differentiate between Islamic extremist and Islam as a religion –to correct problem of Islamic Phobia in America

CNN, Aljazeera, BBC and other World Media VS Islamic Phobia in America

The World Media channels such as CNN, Aljazeera, and BBC has a great role to play in solving the problem of Islamic Phobia currently pervasive in America society as a result of the Islamic cultural center that is being proposed at Ground ZERO.

The simple way to come out of this quagmire of Islamic Phobia is to stage a consistent “documentary to differentiate between Islamic Extremist and Islam as a religion” by World Media channels.

In every religion of the world there are extremist, fanatic or fundamentalist. These groups of people often go all the way to one side and avoid the middle-ground and compromise and the moderate view whenever possible. A true Muslim who believes in Islamic teaching does not portray this feature of extremism that usually exhibit terrorist act.

These are two opposite divide that needed to be differentiated explicitly so that the negative image many people in the United States have about Islam can be corrected.

Therefore, A Muslim of good Islamic faith cannot be a terrorist and a terrorist cannot be a Muslim either.

Islam still remains the world’s most misunderstood religion; a step can simply be taken to re-orient the world and change this perception particularly among the American citizen. The Media is the tool to achieve this goal.

The example of the power of Media on every subject matter is very visible within the context of the recent spot light of Media on Pastor Terry Jones about the burning of the copies of Koran.

Of course the same sport light can be beam on differentiating between Islamic Extremist and Islam as a religion” through a well packaged documentary and campaign in CNN, Aljazeera, BBC and other world Media channels.

Yes we can do it, what we need is Commitment to purse it, Yes we can!

Amen to that..

Thanks for the contact links.

The more information we can get out to the public on this subject rather than letting the elements of extremes dictate the conversation the better.

Thank you for doing what you do.
