Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

The Credit Pandemic

August 8th 2011 10:52
The moment everyone around the world knew was coming finally arrived over the weekend and there are still many people in the conversation wondering how this could happen…

To understand the reasons behind the United States AAA credit rating downgrade is to go back to principles every teenager is taught before opening their first checking or savings account.

Principles based on the simplicity of putting in more money than is taken out and maintaining a balanced budget to avoid being fined through overdraft fees or having the privilege of using the services of a banking institution taken away.

It’s the forgotten simplicity of the things we teach our children to set them on the right path towards their adult lives that has made the actions of governments across the globe all the more perplexing.

Actions based more on the principles of building up trillion dollar deficits while nations that don’t have the stature or influence in super powered groups are held to the standards of how much money is actually in their national reserves.

While the idea of a Trillion Dollar deficit is enough to make some people drop their jaws it is the reaction by government officials to the consequences that come with such an action that should raise the most red flags.

Reactions that were quick to point the finger at the messenger instead of taking a broader approach to a problem that clearly rests within a broken system fueled by the costs of wars, scandals, a financial industry allowed to wreak havoc without consequences and a revolving door of judges, representatives and executives that have forgotten the most basic aspects of an oath to serve the people of the United States of America and the United States Constitution.

The strategy of pointing the finger is not something new to politics in any country.

It’s become far too easy to place faces on a crisis but much more difficult to gain a true understanding of a pandemic that spans the globe.

A pandemic that has very little to do with the voice of the Tea Party or the United States Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner.

The problems in the United States of America has everything to do with the false reality passed down from Sessions of Congress to Sessions of Congress and President to President in the fantasy notion that the United States of America can continue living a lifestyle it cannot afford simply because of who they are.

The time to earn the AAA Credit Rating given to us without the hard work to earn it has finally come but a nation that has chosen to go to war within itself is still not prepared to do so.

When it comes to discussions about men and women caught in the turmoil of personal credit problems; the answer from people outside the situation is always as simple as a call for these people caught in the situation to pay their bills.

If the United States of America and European Nations faced with the harsh realities of the 21st Century began to take this approach it would go a long way in beginning to fix a global crisis.

A global crisis that is anything but simple.

Simplicity would exist if this global crisis only applied to the finances of nation’s that failed to pay down their debts but the crisis happening across the globe also affects millions of people’s ability to work, ability to feed their families and their ability to maintain a basic standard of living.

With these thoughts in mind; the world has more to lose than the reputations of Super Power Nations that have placed themselves in the role of setting the course of global financial markets.

What the world has to lose is our ability to make sense of the things that are really happening within our government houses when the panic truly sets in.

The panic that causes even more bad decisions on top of the horrors that are already happening within our food and water supply…

It’s in times of crisis that the world needs to come together the most but this rarely happens until it’s too late.

What we need do is read the writing on the wall as a world society instead of falling into the trap of thinking that everything will turn around "like it always does."

The only way things will turn around is if we make the decision to change as a race of people.

Until that time comes we are doomed to continue down the same path of destruction that has brought us to the dangerous place we are in at the present.
