Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Facing the Hard Facts in the War on Terror

October 4th 2010 12:21
Nine years after the harsh reality of dangers the rest of the world was already facing came to American shores; citizens of the United States of America must face the facts.

The facts that a political “Campaign for Change” can’t fix and no amount of military force will ever completely eliminate.

Terrorism in all its forms is now part of our lives on the Continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii and every nation American citizens will visit around the globe.

As much as we try to hide from these facts through campaign bravado that focuses on all the reasons we got into this mess there is still the harsh reality sitting at our back doors.

The reality that points to the reasons why there will be a continued presence in Iraq long after any Presidential Speech about an end to combat operations.

The reality that points to the gravity of the situation in Afghanistan and the dangers that still lurk in the Mountains, Caverns and other hidden places where plans are still being made for the next attack in the name of a God worshipped by millions of peace loving people around the globe.

Instead of facing this issue head on American social culture has created a series if diversions in the way we look at one another, seek solutions and move forward after tragedy.

While there is solid support behind the job our men and women in uniform do every day by putting their lives on the line to protect our freedoms there has also been a quiet war brewing on the home front that mistakes religion for terror.

Any idea, belief or practice can be twisted and turned for the purposes of mad men and women who use fundamental ideology to suit their own purposes.

History has shown us the consequences of these actions time and time again within the Christian Religion, Judaic Religion, Religion of Islam, Hindu Religious Order and the radical agendas of political leaders to attack specific religions or the idea of religion itself.

For every time an entire religion is grouped into the actions of radicals it causes a splinter affect among the populous to create wild ideas about the realities that stand before them.

The ultimate reality that comes with the warped thinking within the terrorists who’s only purpose in life is to create mass casualties regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age or social status.

The international war on terror is not a war between the west and the east just as much as it is not a war between western religion and Islam.

The international war on terror is the same as the war that is still being waged against white supremacists who use the bible to further their cause or the cult leader who warps the minds of his flock into a system of oppression, statutory rape and forced pregnancy.

The problem is not a new problem but an issue for the world to deal with on a global level in a technological age that has made communication a weapon of mass destruction.

To truly win this war we must give up a piece of the freedoms we enjoy without letting the powers that be run amok with them.

We must also root out the real enemy to world stability without falling into the trap of pointing fingers at our neighbors in a hunt for our own personal solutions in a war that is bigger than any individual, religion, political party or nation.

The invisible War on Terror will not be won with the election of a candidate who promises peace nor will it be won by a political candidate who promises to get tough on the terrorists.

The War on Terror will be won the same way the World won World War’s I and II through a worldwide focused effort to put our differences aside for the greater good.

In a technological age where everyone thinks they understand a problem we can’t see the solution may be easier said than done but it is up to the powers that be to figure it out and the people of the world to understand what’s at stake.
