Helping the Homeless

In exactly one week a Series of Events will be kicking off in the Fredericksburg, VA area to help raise money and awareness for worthy causes.
One of the causes that will benefit from these fundraising events is the cause of the Thurman Brisben Center, a full service residential homeless shelter in Fredericksburg, VA.
While the cause of helping men, women and children in a time of need by providing food and shelter may not be anything new to the conversation of philanthropy; our nation and the world have entered a period of time where your generosity is needed more than ever.
Generosity, by helping facilities like the Thurman Brisben Center and other homeless shelters across the nation by donating food, clothing and money to support a growing problem.
A problem that is spreading rapidly as the line between a middle class lifestyle and homelessness is disappearing with a housing epidemic and record breaking rates of joblessness.
It is for all of these reasons and much more that we have decided to put together a series of events to directly support the mission of the Thurman Brisben Center by setting up two food drives and fundraisers in their honor.
On this day I am asking you to join us at Smokey Bones Bar and Fire Grill in Fredericksburg, VA throughout the month of September where a donation station will be set up to support cash and check donations to the Thurman Brisben Center and a Food Drive will be on site September 10, 2010 as part of the Thurman Brisben Center Awareness Dance Party to raise community awareness for the cause.
The night of September 10, 2010 will have a $10.00 cover charge in which all net proceeds will go directly to the Thurman Brisben Center and can be reduced to $5.00 with the donation of 2 canned food items.
Featured at this event will be a live DJ spinning all of today’s hottest hits, 50/50 raffle and much more.
September 11, 2010 will be the second night of celebration when the party of awareness moves across the street to Cheeseburger in Paradise for a free all ages Reggae Benefit Show featuring Sons of Solomon between 8:00 pm and Midnight.
A donation station will be set up on site as well as a Food Drive where we are encouraging the community to support the efforts of the Thurman Brisben Center by donating canned food items.
It will be the support of our fellow man that heals wounds inflicted by one of the worst economic crisis in World history.
Please join us in this weekend long celebration to support homeless citizens in the Fredericksburg Area.
