How The Green Revolution Became Another Side Dish To Garnish The Steak Of A Failed Government

"The green revolution has an entirely different meaning to most people in the affluent nations of the privileged world than to those in the developing nations of the forgotten world."

Of all the things we do well as an American society, what we do best is standing up for what we believe.
Americans of every race, gender and sexual orientation all have a vision of what would make our society a better place to live and we embody this into the social causes that have reshaped American thought, culture and science.
A cause that is just, powerful and the right thing to do can change the world if applied in the right direction or it can be just as easily watered down and swept under the rug…
Causes like saving the Earth, Animal Rights, Human Rights, Oil Independence and World Peace have been around long before anybody readin this was born and have been at the forefront of socially conscious conversations for centuries.
The problem with a cause isn't when people hit the ground to champion their beliefs and spread the word about societal injustices but rather when a society embraces them into a gimmick and waters down the true roots of the issue.
Such as when we use cliché words like "Organic" or "Green" to spin the ultimate root of the issue into slick marketing campaigns.
Marketing Campaigns that are built to guilt Americans rather than bring them together, demonizing those who don't adhere to specified lifestyles.
We thumb our noses at other countries around the world that don't fall into our societal expectations of jumping on the band wagon trends we define ourselves by.
A revolution can only come about when the people understand what they're revolting against. For too long the issue of the most important causes has been a struggle with one American against another as we point fingers over the simplicity of the issue when the focus should squarely be on how the problem began.
The problem with Fur becoming a Fashion trend wasn't with someone waking up one day and deciding whether a white mink coat matched better with there black shoes than a silver fox but rather came when the Fashion Designer's built a culture on death in creating the Fur industry.
The Fur isn't the problem…
If I was in Siberia with only my spear to survive, fire and a Silver Fox in my scope, the choice would be simple. However the respect comes in the killing of the animal and you honor this creature in death by using its meat to survive and Fur to keep warm. The issue comes when an industry based solely on corporate profits began poaching, skinning and remarketing these animals' natural gifts simply to make the people who could afford these products look "fashionable".
Throwing paint on people who wear fur, demonizing someone as archaic for eating meat or shaking our fists at people who drive SUV's isn't the solution for the problems we have as a society.
While these things may exacerbate the issues we fight so hard against the true weapon of choice needs to be education.
I've come to the painful conclusion that things have become so eroded in our society that it is simply impossible for anyone to dream of a utopian culture where every American can return to their roots in the expectation of having a system set up to guarantee the safety of our food supply.
It is now simply a personal decision in having the understanding of the affects each and every one of us has on this earth and the animals we share it with.
It is what it is and it's a long and winding road close to impossibility for anyone who chooses to live that lifestyle similar to the one must trudge through to ever become truly "Green".
The un-affordability of hybrid vehicles sets up a joke of a class system in awkward financial times. The technology was always there but the auto industries chose to ignore their opportunity to seize the day that came when the Gas prices rose to record levels.
It's now too little too late as we wait for Phase III of the financial crisis which will leave the markets crippled on her final legs.
While it's important for every American to have the guarantee of a healthy life I understand it's hard to see past what's in front of our faces when the pocket book, purse or wallet is empty.
Empty pockets equal a search for easy solutions resulting in the million dollar profits of the Spam Corporation, Fast Food Chains and Commercial meat Industry.
Looking at the wide scope of the issue, the "Organic" and "Green" lifestyle really is at a crossroads of either becoming part of the system or fading away. For me they have already become just an "Urban "Dictionary" addition formed and fitted to adjust into American culture.
The term "Organic" has been historically watered down from its roots in the sense of definition as only becoming the exclusion of anything unnatural ie anbtibiotcs and hormones.
The term no longer has any guarantees on the treatment of the animal's themselves or how they were killed, nor does it have to adhere to any policies on the lands where the plants are grown.
Organic Mushroom Farms next to meat packing plants where animals are tortured and killed on a daily basis are just as toxic as the Non-Organic products sitting next to them on the shelf.
In the term "Green"…
I think the majority of Americans have lost what the ultimate meaning of the word is over the years.
What began as a struggle to convince the government to act in stopping the action of corporations in polluting the Earth, Water, Skies and Raping the lands we were given as a gift, has turned into a funky logo and "sweeps" gimmick for the NBC Corporation.
I don't want to sound bitter or non grateful for where we have come as a nation where our political candidates have gone from not talking about what was going on to having a national discussion about who is the "Greener" candidate.
However, I'm beginning to feel like the bastardization of these ultra important issues are only a pacifier to "Shut Up" the common man in a master strategy to stop the uprising that has needed to happen in this country since the Industrial Age.
