Politics and Culture - American Profiles In Radical Independence

“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

The Next Stage of Radical Independence

June 25th 2009 16:12
For any movement to reach the heights of making life better for their fellow man we must first ask the question of why we are here. Once we look deep inside our hearts and minds and truly understand the roots of this cause we can begin to move forward.

~Khalfani King

In this year of my Radical Independence many of you have walked with me in the process of transformation from a Sunday morning rant of anger at a society that refuses to look at the big picture into a broad array of weekly posts that challenges the way we look at our country and world.

In the process of sharing my views of the world we have crossed many bridges into controversial hot button issues where I have asked you to broaden the scope of beliefs being brought into the conversation.

My plea was answered and we have had many back and forth discussions that aren’t being heard on the public stage.

At this point I would like to thank each and every one of you for allowing me to bring up topics in the realm of Same Sex marriage, Gun Control and Abortion without the blind sided back and forth arguments that cloud the true root of the problems we have in our society concerning these issues.

What we have created in this place is a safe haven where issues that normally arouse passion and anger can be discussed without attack and finger pointing.

Everybody reading this post has a clear understanding that anger and ignorance exists on both sides of any hot button issue concerning race, religion and politics.

We each have our own set of beliefs and it would be foolish for me to come on here week after week to ask you to change the beliefs that are in your hearts and minds.

As I’m sure many of you have understood; my goal is to bring the conversation to another level in the search for solutions that work for all Americans.

For too long we have allowed politicians, societal figures and caricatures of once great men and women to divide us along the lines of gender race and sexual orientation.

The guilt of this practice doesn’t lie within the hands of one political party, race of people, religion or social group but rather in the public’s ability to allow this to happen.

Radical Independence will never be about asking you to join a political party or to support a candidate.

These things are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Radical Independence is about embracing every political party, religion, nationality, race, gender, sexual orientation and economic class of people on the planet.

With this embrace we can sift through the political jargon and double speak in search for the true answers in finding solutions for fixing our environment, finding a balance with the animals we share the Earth with, safety of the consumables in our food supply, getting back on track as a society economically, bridging the social divide of invisible walls we separate ourselves into along the lines of socio economic class, religion, gender, race, regionalism and sexual orientation while also helping the people who should be getting the most attention.

In all the time we spend fighting between extremes what is forgotten is the people who are suffering from the things we don’t have answers for.

The next phase of Radical Independence will include becoming directly involved in helping the parts of society that aren’t receiving top billing on the nightly news or on the halls of Capitol Hill.

We can not rely on government to find cures for diseases that have no cure nor can we expect them to take a break from their partisan battles for control to compromise on legislation for a child to receive the funds needed to have just one day of being a kid instead of the realities of a disease that will soon take his or her life.

On this day I would like to thank each and every one of you for you’re support but I would also like to ask for your help in expanding the conversation.

The things we discuss every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday deserve to be heard and it is up to each and every one of you to spread the word.

I did not begin writing these blogs to become a millionaire and it was not my intention to become famous.

The conversation did not begin on CNN, Fox News, NBC, ABC or CBS and the revolution will not become a televised gimmick to push one station over the other in a battle between conglomerates.

The revolution will begin and end with you as we bring the conversation to a national level.

Within the next few weeks there will be an announcement…

This announcement will change the face of Event Planning and Philanthropy on a global scale.

What we will be putting together will become the solution to helping millions of people around world discover lives free of its daily harsh realities.

While the final i’s are being dotted and the final t’s are being crossed I am asking for your patience and to continue being part of the conversation.

The conversation that goes beyond angry yells, closed ears, eyes and minds…

The conversation that is looking to do more than become a trendy topic in weekly water cooler discussion...

The conversation that will go beyond criticism of government from the left or right in the aspects of historical conversation of rights and wrongs…

We all have more to offer the world than our anger or concern for our own personal situations.

Living a life for my fellow man is an honor I will gladly accept and if I can do this as a Radical Independent and the rational voice of social observation it would be the perfect mixture in a world built on quick and easy solutions.
