“The Radical Thing about the Truth”
July 10th 2011 11:36
In every society that claims to adhere to the principles of Democracy there is always one underlying theme that connects everything that keeps a free society truly free.
While some people may be quick to point out that it is only with individual sacrifice that these freedoms are able to be maintained; others may turn to the fact that it is truth that binds together the elements of every free society.
The idea of truth that comes with every oath taken in courts of law and within oaths taken by public servants at all levels of government.
It was this idea of truth that brought together the men who are now called the forefathers of the United States of America to create the documents government officials at all levels of public service swear to uphold and the men and women in the United States Military swear to protect.
Even with the tools available to us in the 21st century to open up doors that were once closed the idea of truth that was guaranteed to the people of “free” countries is still more of an idea rather than an accepted fact.
The kind of truth that was once basic and easily understood has now become part of a twisted process that comes in whatever color the people of a nation choose to filter it into.
Issues that affect the health and general welfare of the public are no longer plainly stated in terms of cause and affect but have been pre-washed into fabrications that promote the problem as opposed to opening up door’s for the discovery of a solution.
For this, the people of the United States of America have been given the gift of extremes.
Extreme’s that come with a deeply divided electorate fed the false belief that the only way to get America back on her feet again is through structuring un-balanced government.
While the principles of Democracy and Freedom still stand as the center piece of every political argument for or against a change of the guard or electing a man or woman to serve the public need an underlying sense of anger has created radical shifts that have resulted in a laundry list of dangerous consequences.
The kind of consequences that come with the notion that party control over all three branches of government gives the people in power the right to do whatever they want.
An idea that has become common place in an all or nothing society that refuses to look at the destruction being caused until the pile reaches our backdoors.
Backdoors filled with byproducts from decades of bad decisions made by Democrats and Republicans alike.
For all the time spent blaming economic failures in the United States of America and around the globe on an industry, political administration or modern lifestyles; the people of the world are still left with the task of fixing the problems that currently face the planet and finding a way to move forward.
Moving beyond the idea of every man or woman for him or herself with the race to cut programs favored by political opposition before they have a chance to do the same to programs of personal interest.
Most of the problems happening in the midst of the current economic crisis can be solved if men and women in positions of leadership would take time to listen to their constituents while also taking a cue from the lessons taught on a daily basis to the youngest world citizens.
Lessons about sharing, responsibility, pointing fingers of blame and working for the common good.
The common good that begins and ends with a responsibility to work for the best interests of the men and women government officials take an oath to serve.
When a proper amount of time is taken to breathe in some deep breathes before approaching the situation that stands in front of us what we will find is list of simple solutions that require a deep sacrifice taken by all sides of the conversation.
Sacrifices that will be unpopular and will find a hard time being a part of any future political campaign but has to be done to protect the future sovereignty of the United States of America.
When it comes to truth, these are things that need to be said but will never be uttered from the mouth of any political figure trying to win an election that has been transformed into nothing more than a popularity contest.
In a time of crisis it is more important than ever that the game that brought us to this desperate point be changed before everyone ends up on the losing side.
