Weekend of Awareness: Reggae Benefit Show & Save The Ta Ta’s Awareness Rock Show This Weekend

The movement that came to be known as the Awareness Event began with a dream of creating a new source of entertainment that would directly benefit causes bigger than ourselves.
Once this dream was put to paper five events were established in the Fredericksburg Region to raise funds and awareness for not one but two worthy causes.
Two worthy causes that touch the hearts of each and every person in the conversation and gives the community a chance to be directly involved in making a difference in the lives of our fellow man, woman and child.
Two events have come and gone resulting in over $500.00 raised for the cause of fighting the disease that has taken away too many lives too soon. The Save The Ta Ta’s Pub Happy Hour & Save The Ta Ta’s 80’s Happy Hour were both successful events because of the generosity of the local community and talent involved.
Generosity that gave us support by way of supplying Gift Certificates to help achieve lofty goals and from the people who came out to give helping hands through donations to Team Bra’s for a Cause in aid to their journey towards the Three Day Walk in October.
A significant amount of money has been raised but the fight is far from over…
The next phase of the Awareness Event begins Friday September 11, 2009 as we prepare to close out this series of events with six bands on three nights that are donating their time and talent for the cause of lending their hands to the fight.
The fight that will begin this Friday with the Reggae Benefit Show at Buffalo Wild Wings Fredericksburg, VA to raise funds and awareness for the Thurman Brisben Center…
Dub City Renegades and Guitar Center of Fredericksburg will be teaming up to take on the epidemic of homelessness in this Grassroots Reggae Show that will not only be raising money for this full service homeless facility but will also be collecting food that is especially needed by facilities like these during the winter months.
In order to achieve these goals we will have a $5.00 cover charge put in place which can be substituted with the donation of two canned food items.
This will be the only event in the Awareness Event Series that will be directly raising funds for the Thurman Brisben Center and it is of the utmost importance that we not forget about the members of our community during these times of crisis.
Times of crisis where the line between a middle class lifestyle and a life of hunger and homelessness is become thinner and thinner. This event is our call to raise community support for the men and women who are working tirelessly to fight the statistics in an effort to put food in the bellies of people who have not eaten for some time and provide shelter for men, women and children who have no place to go.
On the very next night will be a continuation of the Save the Ta Ta’s events with the first of two Awareness Rock Shows. Live at Mainstreet Grill & Bar in Stafford, VA will be a three band event featuring Vollmer, Three Finger Charlie and Yesterday’s Saints.
In the style of the rock era that moved the nation during the 70’s and the 80’s this night of celebration in the cause of fighting Breast Cancer will be a return to the roots of Rock & Roll that has been lacking in recent years.
Each band is donating their time and talents to the success of this event and the creation of a night the Fredericksburg area will never forget.
Also featured at this event will be the first of two raffles featuring Gift Certificates from Lo’k Custom Fashion Inc. for the amount of $200.00 which can be put towards the purchase of any services this company provides, a package from Domino’s Pizza that includes a double large pizza set and many other prizes from vendors in Stafford County, VA.
These events could have never reached the heights of success we have witnessed in the past two weeks without the generosity of Firkin & Bulldog and Applebee’s Plank Road who were gracious enough to host our first two events.
Any success the next three events achieves will be thanks to the generosity of Guitar Center, Fredericksburg for supplying sound for the upcoming events at Buffalo Wild Wings and to the venues themselves at Mainstreet Grill and Buffalo Wild Wings Fredericksburg for being gracious enough to allow us to use their facilities as a staging ground to raise money and awareness for important causes.
Before there can be any celebration of milestones and money raised there must be community support to allow these things to happen. The Awareness Event has found this generosity in every place we have approached to help us on this journey and for this we are truly thankful.
The stage is set for big things to happen but no stage is complete without an audience to share it with. The moment we have all been waiting for is set to begin this weekend with the opportunity for each and every one of you to do your part by directly making an impact on two important causes.
