Separating Fluff and Bull from Facts and Fiction Volume VII “Consider the Source”
September 9th 2010 09:55
Somewhere hidden between the flashy headlines of approval or disapproval for the healthcare overhaul is an unspoken understanding among the American populous.
An understanding in the fact that the public isn’t being served with honest debate on an issue that will eventually affect the pocket books of a society that is already dealing with one of the worst economic crisis in world history.
What’s happened over the past two years is a snowball effect that has blanketed the conversation of how best to move forward as a nation in fixing age old problems with the smoke screen of partisan conjecture.
Conjecture that has brought lost wars from yesteryear to the forefront of the conversation when the issues of today desperately need to be taken care of.
Issues of unemployment, failing small businesses and a crumbling infrastructure that have been pushed to the backburner while the pundits and politicians have been fighting over losses and victories between the Democratic and Republican party.
While the controlling party is content to celebrate a “roll in the mud” with the spoils of a partisan war the nation must now look forward to the consequences that are to come when the idea that wasn’t vetted through a bi-partisan eye test becomes a reality.
Looking forward to Republican control of Congress is not enough because the health care crisis will still be in place long after the legislation is repealed.
What we must do as a society is go back to drawing board and have an honest conversation about the kinks in the system that has already been put in place and move forward.
The longer we look at this issue as a chess match between the big two parties the further we will move away from any real solutions.
What’s at stake is the future of the United States of America and if this means that both of the major parties need to swallow some pride to fix the mess we’re in…
That should be more than worth the price that has to be paid.
