Reaping What You Sew: An in Depth Look at the Massachusetts Senate Election Results
January 20th 2010 09:42
As the hourglass of time moves so does the mood of an angry nation….
An angry nation that thirsted for positive change in Election “08” has now let their voices be heard again beyond any direction that a Politcal Spin Doctor could twist and turn the conversation.
The conversation of the consequences that happen when forces drunk with Absolute Power contort the will of the people into a "we won and you lost" dialogue.
Dialogues that have and will always get us nowhere no matter the amount of enthusiasm that stood behind political speeches that never turned into reality.
Enthusiasm for the idea of change on Capitol Hill that was warped into partisan mandates shoved down the throats of the American People.
Shoved through Radical spending measures and Uncompromised Legislations to ensure passage of laws through expediency rather than Pragmatic Discussion in considertaion of what is best for the American People and future direction of a divided nation.
A divided nation that will never think with the same mind or will ever wholeheartedly agree with any single political philosophy but will always run better when political representatives work in open door sessions as opposed to closed door lock ins that are based upon the idea of maintaining and gaining more power over the other side.
The verdict is in and no man or woman can say that what happened last night was based on local issues or that the anger from the thousands of Tea Parties across the nation are simply a racist ploy to undermine the administration of the first President of African descent.
What happened last night is the same thing that happened when the American people rallied behind the words of a political outsider who said that change does not come from Washington but change comes to Washington.
The change that came to Washington simply blended in with the status quo and the American people have flatly rejected the unfair bargain they have received.
While some people may call the new found ability for Republicans in Senate to block Democratic Legislation through filibuster a victory; I can not find it in my heart to do so because I see this a defeat for the political process.
A defeat in watching the merry go round spin right back to the point we were at with the last Presidential Administration and a Congress that consisted of a solid Blue Left and a failing Presidential Regime that stood to the solid Red Right.
An even balance of power that checks one another is never a bad thing but the problems came with a toxic atmosphere that occurred from failures in both branches of government.
It is this toxicity, now at a fever pitch, that is killing our society beyond the idea of any party having control in any branch of government.
Until the problem of our legislators approaching ideas in terms of extremes is solved we will never be able to put the train back on the tracks as a nation.
This can only occur once we step off of the merry go round and rediscover our roots of Radical Independence by way of having the courage to approach the conversation.
Roots that will begin right here this Sunday when we begin a four part series that hits upon the hot button issues of Race, Gun Control, Abortion and the distorted line that is the Separation of Church and State in Modern America.
We can never break the walls of extremes without having the conversation.
It is my sincere hope that each and every one of you will join me in discussion of all these topics beginning this Sunday.
