The Inaguration of Change, Independence And Finding Sanity In All the Glitter & Gold...

The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved.

Soaking in the ground breaking world news that has crashed upon us like a million elephants falling in a safari, it has forced me to stop and examine my personal moment of clarity.
This moment is coupled with the anticipation of the United States of America taking her perch on the door step of history as she prepares for her moment.
This moment is not only the 4-8 year passing of the torch but is also a time of historical significance.
Contrary to media and social folklore, this moment doesn’t belong to a certain race, gender, sexual orientation or political affiliation but rather it belongs to all Americans as we celebrate where our country has been and the moment we’re at right now.
This statement should not be mistaken for a belief that this election was a magical moment where America finally woke up and decided to lay down racial prejudice to elect the right man for the job.
But should rather be celebrated as a culmination of understanding from sea to sea to shining see that two candidates can run for the most powerful position in the world and decisions will be made by the American people as to who will be the best Commander and Chief regardless of something as simple as Race or Gender.
My hope is to see people of all races, genders, sexual orientation and religions hold office in my lifetime. With this said I’m also not going to push for this to happen simply to make history, fill media headlines or sell television spots.
Everyone should have a fair chance to say what needs to be said, have a chance to lead our nation and should be judged by the American people accordingly regardless of social factors.
Discrimination is an ugly monster and should be diligently fought against no matter if it’s coming from the Left or Right or is represented by a Donkey or an Elephant. For too long we’ve given our “preferred” candidates a free pass to denigrate the other side through their mouths or by way of their party along these lines and to that we must look inward and root it out to stop the bleeding.
Until we reach this point of independence, moments like the one which will happen Tuesday will be the stuff that doesn’t go beyond the pages of history books and the youth of America who have been strengthened and invigorated by election “08” when they finally saw the election process work for them will become just another statistic in an apathetic voting pattern.
I personally can’t wait for the oath of office to be taken to simply calm things down and to keep our passions from becoming anger when things don’t “magically” turn around. The more I hear the countdowns to Obama becoming President and the reverse countdowns to Bush handing over the reigns, the more worried I am for the eventual backlash that is to come when this final phase of the economic crisis hits during the next presidential regime.
This phase began late last week with the announcement from the #2 consumer electronics retailer but it isn’t the loss of Circuit City that worries me...
It’s the thought of all the businesses before them and all the business’s to come as they leave their oversized retail space empty and the banks they were paying their mortgages too holding the notes.
Yes the pain is here and proof is on the streets with the millions upon millions of jobless Americans and the government left without any solutions except to throw more wood on the fire.
As I write from week to week I understand that I may come across hard on our in coming administration and I also understand the politics that go into our two party system but facts are facts.
Whatever system we have going on with our government intermingling with financial sectors through passage of laws promoting big business instead of the people who put them into office, meddling with the standards of credit to get more people into homes and buy more junk is what got us into this mess and as I said before the American people are the one’s left holding the bag with pink slips from coast to coast...
There is no way shape or form that I can sit here and blame Bush for every little thing that has gone wrong in this country no more than I can sit here and pretend that Obama is the answer to all of our prayers and will save us from impending financial doom. These two statements are one in the same and will ultimately get us nowhere in finding the answers of how this thing is going to get fixed.
So what is the answer?
In the past I would have said it was Bi-partisanship but after the mockery Bush, Election “08” McCain, Hillary Clinton and Obama made out of that word I think it should be sent to a museum along with the word Maverick. The truth of the matter is that we need to call a spade a spade. Bi partisanship is only possible when disaster strikes and Congress needs to act fast which usually ends up resulting in an act of stupidity or something that will bite us in the butt down the road.
As proven this week both Republicans and Democrats have lost their spines and will to stand up for what’s right. What we need is a John Wayne like character in the halls of Capitol Hill who will stand up for what’s right when Illinois gangsters who are under indictment try to muscle in Senators instead of caving in and letting a Governor under impeachment for trying to auction off that very seat select one of his own to pass vote’s that affect all Americans.
The check and balance of what’s left of the Republican Party along with the Democrats who can’t even walk down the street without being screamed at by their constituents need to let the voice of the people be heard through their votes and filibusters on Capitol Hill to stop the free money give away to banks who refuse to report where the money of the American people is going towards.
These are the things that are burning me and I have a feeling that we have 4-8 years of the same BS.
Simply because no matter who is in office promising sweeping changes and working with Congress to become more efficient, it always ends up being the same results because they always fall into the same traps of engaging in old partisan arguments of nominating activist Supreme Court Judges, trying to pass robust health care measures and changing the face of military culture.
It’s estimated that President Obama’s first 100 days in office will be in crisis mode. A crisis that hasn’t even hit a plateau yet is what he will be walking into with high expectations and a nation in dire pain.
My heart goes out to those who were clawing there way to survive before the economic crisis hit because that group has and will quadruple as the divide will grow between the have’s and have not’s.
My full support goes out to the new presidential regime as they were elected by and for the American people. This simple statement means so much but has been misunderstood in both the Legislative and Executive branches throughout history.
Maybe I’m wrong and it’s time for true change and this reality is in the cards for our nation.
Or maybe we’re fooling ourselves along party lines once again…
