The Price to Pay for Progress in a Modern World of Extremes

For decades upon decades there has been a storm brewing across the world.
A storm that has developed into a bigger and bigger problem for every step our world society has taken forward.
Steps to replace things that were once common knowledge with expediency, abundance and thrift.
In yesteryear, the conversation about protecting ourselves from the dangers that come with expediency was simple.
Simple within the fact that we could trust our friends, neighbors and local farmers in communities across the nation to take careful steps in preparing the food that would eventually reach our dinner plates.
The very same food they would prepare and feed their own children and family members.
What we have in modern society is an overblown network of food production that is based more on increasing corporate bottom lines than producing healthy and nutritious products.
In a market place that offers the same thing in terms of practicality in almost every Restaurant, Grocery Store and Fast Food Chain the Public is financially left without choice.
Choice in understanding the things that are in our food and the process a steak, pork chop or piece of fried chicken went through before making its way to our dinner plate.
Much like the animals that serve as the life blood of the meat packing industries commerce the consumer is considered a number rather than a living and breathing being.
Packed into crates, fed chemical diets based on a scientist’s view of creating a better product, injected with hormones and ultimately sliced and diced without regard to any health concerns our society has been conditioned to except shortcuts as common place.
Even the most novice of citizens can understand the problems that are leading to every Salmonella and E-Coli outbreak but conversation is replaced by a corporate plea to the public to cook their meat longer and a dismissal of any scientific link to the medical problems that have stemmed from the unnatural progression of modern society.
An unnatural progression that has created an environment for diseases to manifest themselves in ways that would have never occurred without human intervention.
The subject of Animal Rights and the Meat Industry is about something more than having a heart to understand the unnecessary pain farm animals go through on a daily basis before slaughter or simply going vegetarian to shield ourselves from the issue.
The issue at hand is about human impact on the world and the majority of society’s lack of choice when it comes to taking care of our family.
The lack of choice when it comes to balancing grocery budgets in the midst of economic crisis and being asked to consider the potential danger of our children being exposed to pesticides, steroids, hormones. E-Coli or Salmonella tainted food.
The facts continue to stack up on each other.
Charring the meat is not taking care of the problem and the lack of media coverage on the issue is only making the public more and more restless.
Restless for the full conversation about why our government is protecting the people stuffing their political campaigns as opposed to searching for real change in an industry that lost it’s way decades ago.
When we break down this issue the problem isn’t with Mc Donald’s, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, KFC or the local grocery store.
The problem is with the way we think as a society and our inability to fight back when a problem that is bigger than any one Restaurant Chain or Corporation confronts us face to face.
The path we’re on as a society is one that will only widen and deepen if things do not change on a scale that is larger than pointing the finger.
The price to pay is steep and millions of Americans are paying it every day from the affects of tainted meat, vegetables and milk products with the rise of cancer and other diseases that accompanied our progress as a society.
From the beginning of time man has always had a relationship with animals for companionship, labor and food.
This is natural and has passed down from generation to generation as seen in millions of homes across the nation with the love that is shared with our four legged companions.
What we need to do as a society is to open our minds and ask the questions that need to be asked of our government and move back to where it all began with our local farmers and natural living.
Until we do this we have no right to complain about the next corporation that allows an outbreak to happen because this is the world we have created and until we are willing to fix it we have no right to judge the players but to only hate the game.
