From Left Field: The Price of Fame

There are certain undeniable truths in life.
Truths that cannot be twisted and turned for the purpose of political gain and must be faced head on when the evidence of the damage it is causing becomes blatantly clear.
Both sides of the conversation continue to complain about the current process to elect the men and women that serve in leadership roles across the United States of America but what the American public is lacking is someone willing to stand up against the power structure to do something about it.
Instead, media outlets and the American public at large hoist politicians up to rock star status for everything their image would bring to an individual religion, race, gender and political ideal.
Issues are no longer the main point of focus in political races at all levels and we have become a society that instead turns to image, dirt, false perceptions, rumor and innuendo to decide who the best person for the job is.
A dangerous notion that is continually exposed when the reformers become the status quo and the American public is left standing on the platform with their bags packed and no one to deliver them from the danger that is coming.
The danger of a government that is unwilling to evolve from failed strategies of yesteryear to the thinking that clearly lays out the problems of modern society and the brick wall that is swiftly approaching.
A brick wall that clearly shows each and every person the dangers that are to come if we continue to run down the path of supporting greed over the needs of our fellow human beings, if we try to rationalize the things that are going wrong by pretending there isn’t a problem and if we continue to allow the big two political parties to pass the ball of blame onto each other without taking any responsibility for their own actions.
The problem with the political process has very little to do with the lack of choice every November and has even less to do with a field of weak candidates provided by the Democratic and Republican parties.
The problem with the political process has everything to do with the American electorate’s propensity to indulge in the act of insanity by doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
The only way to break a cycle of insanity is to do something radical.
This can only happen when we choose to listen to our fellow man or woman instead of yelling at them and take the time to understand all sides of the conversation before we react.
We must also embrace the people labeled as our enemies for just 5 minutes in an effort to understand that we are all in search of the same goals to repair a mess caused by the effects of a divided nation.
