The Shifting Faces Of Anger Created From Mandates Of Change

"It is easy to fly into a passion--anybody can do that--but to be angry with the right person and at the right time and with the right object and in the right way--that is not easy, and it is not everyone who can do it."
~ Aristotle

In times of crisis it is customary it find out exactly where things went wrong and to have a sense of purpose in finding a direction to fix it. These times of crisis facing our nation are exactly that, but we are also faced with the enigma of having no set person or face to point our angry fingers nor do we have a sure fire way to fix the problem in the short or long term.
When the Economic Crisis reared its ugly head solutions appeared as simple as pointing blame along party lines.
When this didn’t work the conversation shifted towards bringing new blood into the fray to “clean up” the special interest circles and partisan divide.
When it was all said and done the people of this nation made the conscious decision to shut their ears to rational debate and lay the blame at the feet of the legacy created by President George W. Bush opening the door for blind rage to make the most important election of our time about anything but the issue of the situation we’re in and how we were going to get out of it.
Issues of broken glass ceilings took center stage clouding over the current mess the nation was facing and the tragedies we had to come. Historic moments where America could overcome her past lead to pure and unadulterated delusion where the belief that our problems could be fixed with the wave of a Democratic wand swept through our nation almost as fast as the Economic Crisis.
The problem we have in this nation isn’t with the executives at AIG receiving high end bonuses nor is it with pissing contests of partisan interests on Capitol Hill but lies squarely on how we blind ourselves in holding our political leaders to the flame of responsibility.
The fickleness of the American electorate is an amazing creature when she’s wounded. With the ring leader of media interests dragging her by the collar and telling her which way to think conversations are formulated on the cutting board of the newsroom. The unhealthy nature of this thinking has lead to bold statements like “Post-Racial America” and newspaper headlines that declared America has reached “A New Day.”
The dangers that lie ahead are grave but when intermingled with the fever pitched frequencies of false expectations from Election “08” the tragedy of the situation will only get deeper.
America truly needed everything that a Presidency under the Obama Administration promised us. The problem with partisan dreams made for America written by spin doctors is that in time it will eventually have to face the harsh truth of reality.
The reality of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression…
The reality of the millions of homeless Middle Class Americans who lost their homes due to foreclosure…
The reality in the dangers of throwing money at the problem when greed comes into play…
The thing I find sad about the situation is we missed the opportunity to honor the history making events of electing a President the same ethnicity of men and women who were in bondage and considered 1/3 of a man decades before and it will all be diminished and changed to a partisan conversation about the Democratic Party giving the prosperity of the nation away.
The parades, enthusiasm of the electorate, broken glass ceilings, hope for something better all thrown away in the name of partisan politics. It will be written in the history books 10, 20, 50 years down the road of how the American people rose up in huge numbers in dissatisfaction of how their government was working for interest of the common man and was given back the same old politics from spin doctors on the left and the right.
When I see headlines of the GOP earning their comeback it doesn’t give me any solace or satisfaction for the future of this country. What it does give me is a cringe from the deepest parts of my body because I know I’ll be right here having the same arguments against the deeply red congressional leadership elected in a backlash to the partisan practices of our current deeply blue congressional leadership.
Leadership from the Left Wing, Right Wing, Democratic, Republican, Independent and Libertarian sectors your country needs you to re-evaluate the things written in our Constitution and find a way to truly come together without mandates, pork spending projects, changing the conversation or spinning the root of the issue.
My blame for the mess we’re in doesn’t fall along a red or blue lines, nor does it fall into the category of an inherited mess or on the things enacted by the current administration to try and get the country back on track.
The only thing I can see happening is the same old politics of the left trying to prove superiority in poll numbers and the right fighting back not to lose ground. The fight is for the American people but for all the wrong reasons.
Of all the things our country needs right now a good fight is at the top of the list. The bigger issue isn’t about the act of fighting or finding a fighter but rather how we work as a nation to save ourselves from the same lesser instincts that got us into this mess in the first place.
