True Stories of the American Dream From the Hearts and Minds Of Real Americans Part IV

The most solid comfort one can fall back upon is the thought that the business of one's life is to help in some small way to reduce the sum of ignorance, degradation and misery on the face of this beautiful earth.

A few short weeks ago a decision was made to step back one day of the week in devotion to story of my fellow Americans.
Through this decision the first story was told of a mother who gave all she had to attain the American dream of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness through the family that made up her very being.
The story’s that have and will be told through this weekly blog post will never be butter cup perfect.
The fairy tale we’re told our lives should be modeled after of Susie or Johnny going to school, getting perfect grades, ascending to college to land that perfect “dream job” that pays six figures is the stuff that’s drilled into our heads from birth but doesn’t account for life’s realities.
Some may achieve this dream through the “perfect” road map of suburbia while others may be forced to write life's journey’s with the bones of experience and hard knocks.
This weekly conversation is for all those people with their own unique story that is far from anything built on perfection or the status quo.
My intention in doing this isn’t to splash people’s business in a Jerry Springer like fashion across the pages of the internet nor is it to expose the underbelly of American society.
The causes of helping any American or world citizen who may be going through hell understand that their story is a familiar one is a cause I will gladly carry the torch of understanding for.
The torch I’m willing to carry doesn’t glow in a shade of Democratic blue nor does it shine in Republican red.
Unrepresentative of any race, creed or religion in its gentle glow of red, white and blue it stands for the same principles our forefathers built this country on.
When we hear stories of hope and strength our society relishes in the details of tearing down the imperfect messenger.
This is not the time, place or forum for snap judgments to dilute the overall message of these stories of hope, courage and perseverance.
Our government and corporations have gotten away with cold and calculated decisions based on numbers and people “smarter than common sense” as opposed to the general welfare of their common man because of these snap judgments formed by the popular opinion.
The Radical Independent before you today has his own personal Story of The American Dream filled with disability, government inaction and the cascading affects of all these factors on his life and career.
There will be a time and place to tell my story but what I need from each and every one of you today is to help me tell the true story of the American people.
The story beyond what is supposed to happen to Mary or Joe after they do all the “right things” with education, marriage and the white picket fence.
The average American isn’t getting the coverage we deserve and the time is now for us to become something more than color shades on a graph or percentages on a census split up into gender, religion, race and sexual preference.
Our country is never going to be where we want it to be until we make our voices heard on a grand scale.
The time is now to tell your story to the American people in an effort to help your fellow man understand that he or she is not alone.
Stories can be told through an anonymous voice as the the facts, figures and names are of the least importance in this cause.
What we need is open conversation about the realities of life beyond the perch on my soap box every Sunday and Wednesday in my weekly forums.
To submit your True Story of The American Dream from the Hearts and Minds of Real Americans send your take of the American journey or story of government inaction to Khalking@aol.com or find me on Myspace @ www.myspace.com/khalfaniking
I’m also on Facebook where you can send me a message or add me as a friend with the screen name Khalfani King and you can also join my Fan page.
I’m looking forward to hearing from each and every one of you on this journey called life and never forget that we’re never alone unless we choose to be.
