From Left Field: Unfair Compromise
August 4th 2011 12:41
From the very first moment the United States of America claimed Independence from the power of a monarchy to the dangerous times of the present; there has always been a dark and disturbing existence of dangerous compromises.
One of these Compromises came with the allowance of people from all walks of life to agree that the only way a nation could stand the test of time is for the people of that nation to be truly free but to also allow the continuance of slavery to keep the wheels under a young economy.
It’s the dangerous compromises that have allowed the worst atrocities in world history to happen.
From the men and women that continue to sit idly by in silence while dictators wage bloody wars against humanity to the compromises that are made on a daily basis by the American people in accepting the broken systems that exist in federal, state and local governments across the nation as something that cannot be changed; we still have a lot to learn as a society before anyone can claim that they found a way for us to get it right.
Instead of moving towards the places where a solution can be found we choose to fight each other because our differences.
Differences in political beliefs, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, creed, socio economic class and the places we call home.
At one point and time it was the dream of many men and women to create a nation that stretched from one side of the continent known as North America to the other.
For the achievement of this dream the United States of America has become one of the most diverse nations in the world by way of the people of different religions, races and creeds that make up its whole.
It is the diversity of the United States of America that is always showcased in conversations about why America stands out from other nations but it is also this diversity and the idea that each and every American citizen has the freedom to worship or not worship whatever religion they see fit, has the freedom to follow whatever political belief they choose and the idea that each and every American citizen has the freedom to hold onto any personal beliefs they choose that is tearing this nation apart.
It is not the idea of freedom that is causing the unfair compromises that are destroying this nation from within but the way we choose to respect these freedoms that is leading us down to the road to losing it all.
Citizens of the United States of America understand the rights that have been granted to them in the Constitution and Bill of Rights but have forgotten about the individual sacrifice that comes with respecting the rights of others to maintain the rights that have been bestowed on them individually.
Rights that are going by the wayside from the belief that majority rule is the answer to all of our problems and the idea that there are only two sides to every conversation with only one idea that can be the one that prevails.
For every Democratic or Republican takeover of the federal government what the American people got in return was a laundry list of bad ideas that found a way to intermingle with other bad ideas to form the cesspool our elected officials are forced to deal with in the present.
If the United States of America is ever going to be a nation that lives up to the ideas of the framers we will have to do it by dropping our tattered banners dipped in blue and red ink.
Banners tainted by corruptive forces that have sold out the needs of the American people for the idea that money is the answer to all of our problems.
The dangerous path that has lead the people of the world to this point cannot be diverted by any amount of dollars nor will it be diverted by the next Ronald Reagan or Franklin Delano Roosevelt figurehead.
The problems of the world can only be solved when we choose to wake up from our comfortable slumbers and enact real change that isn’t found on a bumper sticker or within a campaign pitch.
Until we do this our reality is going to be one unfair compromise after another that will continue affecting the Planet, our health, ability to work, well being, personal property rights and the rights guaranteed to each and every American citizen in the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.
